Bought Awakening yesterday, which is pretty neat. Oghren has a lot more personality than he did in the first one. Like, he actually says some funny lines.

I don't understand why DLC items can't be brought over, but I lost my awesome as hell staff. Now I'm using a Darkspawn staff.... >_<

Having completed the game and its expansion pack, I can say I thoroughly enjoyed both. The cast in Awakening, I thought, was much better than the cast of the original Origins. The DLC thing still bugged me.

One thing that bugged me about Awakening is that after you beat the final boss, your character sits there in that save. In the original Origins, you would be teleported back to camp and it would say "Now go have some DLC fun!" Does this mean Awakening will not have DLC? That makes it sad if it's true.

I intend to go through Awakening at least one more time so I can get the other achievements and do all the side quests, but still, Awakening had a lot of untapped potential.

^Awakening IS a DLC. Just with the "expansion" name.

By the way, you should get Darkspawn Chronicles. It's pretty awesome, and the achievements are easy.

If Awakening is a DLC that's all the more reason your past DLC stuff should be carried over. It makes no sense as to why they're not.

But, whatever. I need to take my time with my warrior so I can get to level 30. My mage stopped at 27.

I rented it from gamefly and to tell you the truth the game is great wish I did buy it all most done with my mage play through.

The story is a bit weird because they based it on the Dragon Age books.... strange.
