Dragon Age: Origins

So I got the game a few days ago, and I've been DYING to play it. It looked awesome and got a lot of great reviews, all my friends said it was awesome. So I played it. And...

It sucked. Straight up. It is sooo bad I can't stand it. In my experience playing it, it was just an offline World of Warcraft. Everything felt the same. Even the HUD looked the damn same! It was just like playing a graphically updated, offline, bad World of Warcraft.

Now, is it just me or does anyone else think it sucks. Or am I just missing something here.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

I LOVE DAO. It's more of an acquired taste if you ask me though.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

ITS AWESOMEZ, except for the numerous glitches its almost perfecto. because it felt like WoW thts why i liked it.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

DAO is like the second best RPG game ever after Mass Effect.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

But I just don't see its awesome. I would much rather play WoW if it weren't for the outraous monthly fee.

Explain the awesome you see, for I am blind.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

Its story, great dialogues, epic cutscenes, sexy demons, blood...

I think that you''re judging it by the fight system.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

Oh no, I knew the fight system was like that. I don't mind a fight system like that at all. But the cutscenes seem very drab and boring. Kind of like Oblivion, but no so "in-your-face". Literally.

But I did really enjoy the Mage startup and (I think his name is) Jowan does that blood magic stuff and I was like "****IN' COOL". But that was only cool part in it. Other than that it was just boring.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

Where are you in the game?

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

I got to that city thinger and was part of the Grey Wardens or whatever. I walked around a bit, then got bored and stopped.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

You just suck. You're not even past the beginning, + you're playing with a mage which IS boring. Put the difficulty to nightmare or hard, and go.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

I was in it for the story, but I like a story that can grip me from the beginning. If I'm almost an hour into the game and no hook, I find no point. Kind of like a book. I can't push myself to play a game for that long while being bored. I just can't.

Your an hour into an 80-100 hour game. Thats like heading off on holiday and making it to the end of your garden and deciding the holiday destination is crap. My copy should arrive in next few days so i can give my proper opinion then.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

Like I said, I need a hook. I can't force myself to play a game like that with such a boring beginning. Or maybe Daemon was right and it is just the mage that is boring. I might reinstall it later and then try a different character. But it was just so... Bland.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

I recommend someone that fights close-quarters, like a sword and board (one handed weapon + shield) warrior. It's quite challenging on harder difficulties.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

Oblivion is the best RPG ever - like DAO, you'll probably like Oblivion.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

Silly little whippersnappers. If you want a good RPG, get a hold of Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn and the exp. pack Throne of Bhaal.

*shakes cane angrily*

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

If you REALLY want a good RPG, fish out Deus Ex, or System Shock. Awesome.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

System Shock is hardly a "real" RPG. It is more of a hybrid.

It took me 10-15hrs until I was hooked, but i didn't like the game at first. Poor visuals, stiff animations, character personalities were dull, and I didn't find the combat fun... then i got used to it. Plus, I was playing the PS3 version which has some bad lag. My advice, give the game a chance. The story definitely gets better later on in the game and as Andy already stated, 1hr in is too early to make a judgment in a 50-100hr game

The mage origin I found to be the least interesting of the 6 Origin stories (and the most boring), but playing as a mage is pretty fun with all those interesting spells at your disposal.

Re: Dragon Age: Origins

Not to mention that a Mage is worth 10 or even 100 of the other two character classes in that game. There is no balance.
