(And there actually is a difference between assassin and hitman according to the definitions. Assassin has connotations of political killings, hitman connotations of underworld killings... but those are just connotations, not actually part of the definition.)

Yeah. I've always seen a "hitman" as more of a mob enforcer sorta guy, going all loco with uzis and wrenches, while an "assassin" is that guy who snipes his traget from a long distance, with none being any wiser of who did the actually killing, whilst a hitman wouldn't mind leaving his "calling card".

Re: fable 2 jobs

The connotations are confirmed by the OED
Hit
c. A killing; a robbery. Also attrib., as hit list, (a) a list of persons to be assassinated; (b) transf., a list or group of persons, etc., against which some concerted action is intended; a list of objectives; hit-man, a hired murderer; hit squad, a group of esp. politically-motivated assassins or kidnappers; also transf. slang (orig. Assassin
1. lit. A hashish-eater. Hist. (in pl.) Certain Muslim fanatics in the time of the Crusades, who were sent forth by their sheikh, the ‘Old Man of the Mountains,’ to murder the Christian leaders. I just hope whatever job I have in Fable 2 is nothing like the ones I've had in real life... if they can manage that I'll be happy
being the school teacher could be fun... only, you know, less lame than the school teacher from the first game

And I was proving HIS point  no worries :D

What about a Hunter where your job is to capture creatures for the arena.

Re: fable 2 jobs

For those of you who like their brewing and assassination done all in one place, why not heed a suggestion of mine: make your own tavern/bar/grill and cook up a whole load of... deadly seasoned delicacies for your unsuspecting patrons... Just more ideas to please the minds of you future (or present, for that matter) psychopaths...

I thought you were going to say a tavern/bar/grill to cook your patrons
... not that that isn't a good idea as well... :ninja:
I've been playing too much Jade Empire... or not enough :shifty:

Hmmm... even better. For those who like it short and sweet, I suppose. :D Either way, in the way of jobs in general (not just those with... different tastes), what about the concept of 'chicken chaser' an actual job? Getting payed to boot the chickens out of a farmer's farmhouse or doing a peter the piper deal or whatever and chasing all the chickens out of Oakvale? Hey, it's just an idea!

Though many before have mentioned a few of these concepts, the idea of a comedian may be interesting... it could be yet another way of again bringing alive the humor that made Fable great as well as other things... by the way, welcome PEGxPELVISxPETE. Introduce yourself in the Oakvale Square section if you want to just say hi.

[GASP!] Me, attempt to win arguments by slinging data until it piles upon the opponent in a manner not un-reminiscent of BS and they surrender out of boredom??? I would not dream of such a thing... [evil grin]

On the other hand, I didn't say that overkill was a bad thing, now did I?

And yeah, on the subject of teacher-- I had an idea as a result of somebody else's "teacher" comment and my fun physics class today ("Burn, *****, burn!"):

Be a Guild teacher: teach archery/gunplay, will, swordplay-- or, my favorites, more esoteric things like alchemy (like chemistry but more inaccurate and with better explosions); physics (teach about heat, light, how to build trebuchets, and how to send a bullet through the eye of a bandit at long range); and speech and debate/heroic patter (befuddle your opponents with witty repartee and cutting comments, hopefully without getting sliced, diced, and minced by their nasty bladed weapons).

You could get max evil points for taking bribes to pass your wannabe heroes... only if you don't get caught! That would be an interesting concept though. +rep for thinking it up (though someone's probably mentioned it elsewhere, and to you I am sorry).

Re: fable 2 jobs

Yeah, Ii think someone else may have said something about being a Guild teacher and I think I may have said something that was the early beginnings of this idea.

And thanks.

Edit: Though, not to fixate, but there doesn't seem to be any new rep in there. Does it take a bit to show up?

Re: fable 2 jobs

Oh sorry... I actually forgot to give you rep, as I was in a hurry at the time. Check it now, though.
