Who ever said Halo was better than bioshock has bad tastes in games in my opinion. Bioshock had great graphics, atmosphere, was unique (but still like system shock 2 in quite a few ways) an had a great storyline. It was far more fun than Halo was even though it did not have online which was ok for Halo because the comunity sucked on Halo.
Metal Gear Solid was an good game but definitly not GOTY due to its horrable gameplay mechanics (there must be somthing wrong when I can avoid all stealth/fights by quickly running from one area to another). The graphics were amazing and so was some aspects of the storyline but that is it.

Well I said that, and I meant it...
Yes Bioshock was unique and had ok graphics (Halo imo had much better graphics)
Red vs. Blue, Arby n' Chief, DigitalPh3ar and many, many more have made parodies on the Halo series, and A LOT of people still plays Halo 3, which means a lot of people, according to you, "has bad tastes in games".
Tell me, how many do you think still plays Biochock?
This is why I don't think Bioshock should have gotten the GOTY award - you play it once and that's it... doesn't matter if it's unique or has a compelling story line if the game is just that.
Now for the Metal Gear comment...
Anyway, MGS4 (and it's predesessors) was intensinually designed like that so they could give the game MUCH better graphics and details, I mean C'MON, it's not even fair just how amazing the graphics look - no game can even compare!
The zones are rather large, so you can't always run away like a chikken - but hey! if that's how you usually play, that's fine.
But to say that this "horrable gameplay mechanics" completely ruins the games chances to become GOTY is redicules!
MGS4 also has Metal Gear Online - also with breath taking graphics (especially when a granade explodes and you are sendt flying - stunning!) MGO is also updated frequently with new characters, gear, weapons, maps, modes and more... Bioshock, I believe, had 1 update with some new tonics or something - truly revolutionary... not!
I think the lowest score it got was from EuroGamer: 8/10. IGN gave it 10/10.
to say a game that gets 10/10 is NOT GOTY material is just dumb...

I didn't like Halo 3 and sold it back to buy Fable II. Bioshock on the other hand is one to keep in my library. Can't say I've played it in a while but I don't get that much gaming time anyway. I still haven't finished Mass Effect :lol:

Because it brought something new to the table, wasnt a sequel, modding capablity on PC is immense and people will continue to play it for a long time. Id be more surprised if it wasnt nominated. Maybe it doesnt deserve to win it over some of the other titles but definitely deserves to be in there.

I agree.
It's a good game against every other game this year but compared to Fallout 3,GTAIV and Gears of war 2 it's nothing.
