Fable 3 Marketplace Suggestions

Hi,

I want to make it much easier for users to be able to buy, sell, trade and give away junk when Fable 3 comes out. The Fable 2 Item Trading has been surprisingly successful since its creation and I want you guys to help come up with some ideas of how to make the future Fable 3 marketplace even more accessible and straight forward to use.

If you've visited the Fable 2 Item Trading Forum at all today then you'll have probably noticed I've added a new system whereby users can prefix their threads with: 'Wanting to Buy', 'For Sale' and 'Giving Away' icons. Do please have a look - I'm actually quite pleased with what is seemingly a pretty trivial addition - but I'm sure will make a big difference.

I'm looking forward to expanding the system further. When Fable 3 comes out me and Andy will be adding tons of new forums, I'm sure. Here's a few ideas I'd like your opinion on.

New Forum: Co-op Buddy / Achievement Hunting (name could use some work)
Possibly with the following available thread prefixes to help keep the 360 and PC gamers from wandering into the wrong thread.

New Forum: Fable 3 Mods [Releases]
Here's a few thread prefixes I thought up about 10 minutes ago, which I'm also going to add to the Fable: TLC Mods forum after I've posted this. If you can think of anymore then I'd love to hear 'em. + rep to all decent suggestions.

Of course, you could argue, "We don't even know if modding will even be an option in Fable 3!" to which I say: Well, I need ideas for the Fable: TLC mods forum anyway so pitch away.

So, yeah, I might just create two new threads for the two ideas above. We'll see how we get on for now, though. I basically just need some ideas for what other options could be added to expand the Fable 2 and Fable 3 Marketplace/Item Trading forum, the Fable: TLC and Fable 3 Mods forum, and perhaps, if we make one, the Co-op / Achievement Hunting forum.

Edit: If you haven't already, do please take a peek at the Fable 2 Item Trading forum to get an idea of what I have in mind.

The new feature is quite cool, Steve. It's a nice touch.

I'm sure the Fable 3 Marketplace will be much more successful to with all it's Morphing Weapons and so on.

Great idea! Nice work.

We could also have a section of the marketplace for bids, sort of like Ebay, where people put something up for auction and we try to top each other. And we could have a "For Bid" prefix next to it or something.

Interesting... I do like the sound of an item being auctioned off. In fact, that's better than all the other ideas that I'd written down. I'll give you x100 rep for that. :)

In fact, I'm going to add that shizzat now.

That sounds good but that kinda happens anyway.

Usually someone just says the item they're selling and people start posting prices. It would be good in theory and it would be nice to see it work but it naturally happens.

I'd like to see it work though. +Rep for the idea.

We don't even know the achievumentz!

I like the way the item trading looks now. It looks a bit weird though. Have you tried shifting the bar to the right side? Or above the threads' name?

Everything looks great....

For the Item trading maybe you could make a sticky that is like a guide to making a trade or buying thread

Ex. I am trading/selling/buying said item

Name of item and/or picture
Selling price/Buying price/Item wanted in return
Description of item (Like what it is morphed after...Good or evil etc.)

Pretty brief but its a good start

Steve, would it be possible to add a search filter to the "Search This Forum" box?

Such as filtering results by Rating, For Sale, Wants to Buy, etc. So people don't have to shuffle through pages searching for things.

Or if you can click on the bars, and it will show only "For Sale" threads, or clicking on "Wants to Buy" and it will only show threads with "Wants to Buy" tagged onto it.

It certainly is possible! And a brilliant idea!

That's interesting...very thought provoking. It would be possible to allow users to close their own thread - and only their own thread - when they feel that it no longer serves a purpose. Brilliant!

since the main page has a gallery of all the legendary weapons and whatnot, maybe you could add a search function to that? something like "view items for sale now" next to the picture?

and adding on to the auction idea above... having players select how long they are willing to have the item up for sale?

I think those are excellent ideas, especially the pre-fixes you've added, extremely good touch. I can't wait for Fable 3 and the trade thread. (:

I dont know if anyone said this but wont the morphed weapons be due to an alignment so could there be a little symbol for the alignment of the thread for each weapons if you get me so if someones selling an evil morphed weapon there could be a little logo?

Steve, would it be possible for you to set it up so that players could select their items from a drop-down list? it may be easier to find an item you are looking for if it could be found in such a way.

but it could all be for nothing, who knows. :lol:
