Well I chose the Husky, and I guess this will answer some questions.

It's pure white, not a speck of black on him- he looks almost like Bolt but without the black lightning mark. I'm guessing he's pure white because I am 100% pure/good. And if you compare it to the sample, I'm guessing the sample is that of a neutral hero.

I tried out all of them and I think the Husky looks pretty sweet and so does the Dalmatian.
The Bloodhound is okay but not my favourite.
Honestly I like the dog we start out with the most cos i've got used to it tbh :D

i got the husky on my evil char... the dog is pure black looks sick. going to test out the blood hound on my good char to see if its pure white... if it is im keeping it... that would be awesome... dalmatian i havent heard much of the good and evil variant so ill look into that one too

Well the dog breed issue is not really a major one, It just gives variety to your best pal, There are sooo many dog breeds, I think Lionhead were just testing the water. Maybe they'll expand the options for the next game / DLC.

Collie, Rotweiller, German shepherd, Poodle, Sausage dog, British Bulldog, Bull terrier. The list of possibilities goes on and on and on and blah.

The husky is the only good one there, imo.

The Dalmatian looks okay. But I wouldn't go for it.

Huskies are my favorite dogs, hands down. So I was definitely pleased that having one in-game is now an option =)

got to go with the Husky..my brother has one and they are like giant panda/wolf bears, so cute
