Re: Fable Modder

you have to be a pretty decent modder to get it. make a few things, show you know how to do it and someone might just see fit you give it to you. you might have to ask politly first though.

I can mod, Iv put a mod of mine on this sight. but you dont see a modder sign under my name. why? because I dont concider myself a modder. just prove that you can mod beyond following a guide so that the other modders and staff aprove and you should get it.

Re: Fable Modder

Things have changed a little recently regarding the Modder status.

Steve has made it so that you can assign yourself the modder badge, if you so wish. It's up to the individual to know whether they are a modder or not and it means the staff don't have to sift through every single post and thread a member has ever made to ensure they are, in fact, able to mod. It doesn't mean the person is an excellent modder, it shows that there are other people who enjoy modding or might be able to help new modders out with something. If you give yourself the badge you are also opening up the opportunity for people to contact you with questions/requests etc, so think carefully about whether you want to do this before applying the badge to your profile.

The most PM's I get are to do with "can I be a mod?" and so it makes it a lot easier and quicker for people to be able to choose whether to give themselves the badge or not. Of course there will be people who just want a badge but more fool them because they'll get inundated with questions they can't answer ;)

You must be kidding! As soon as a newbie changes the damage of a weapon they think they're a modder! It's already happened!

Re: Fable Modder

If people really are not happy with the situation I'm sure Steve would consider reverting it back to how it was before. It's not supposed to be some kind of elitist title - just for people who enjoy modding really.

Yes, but that won't happen. See, the newbies will be so overjoyed that they can have a Fable Modder tag like the special little newbie they are, thinking they're a modder because they did a retexture.

It's unfortunate that they will use anything to make themselves look better.

I propose that members should have to be approved first. They can join the group, but someone has to validate it. That way, you won't get PMs all the bleeding time and only people who should get the modder tag will get it. That way, everybody wins.

Re: Fable Modder

How's about you go back to the normal system but give the likes of Jason, John and maybe Awesome-John authorisation to give the modder badge? Oh and the Town Guards too, I don't think they can apply the badge, or any in fact to anyone.

Or wouldn't that work on forums? It'd be easier for the admins and make sure no undeserving people acquire the badge at the same time.

:geek:

Re: Fable Modder

A lot of people are somewhat intimidated by having to ask staff for the modding title - unless they know us, they become quite flustered and worried that they will be banned for asking or that they won't be good enough and will get shot down. This way they can become a modder whenever they please and be able to recognise others with the same interests in modding by looking for others badges.

What we don't want to see is a GFX-type attitude growing amongst the more experienced or veteran modders who come here - by this I mean what you tend to see on GFX forums where everyone thinks they have the God-given right to wear the title and everyone else needs to be vetted, approved and microchipped before they can even think of calling themselves capable.

For some newbies, a retexture or altering the damage on a weapon could be a huge achievement for them and they may well want to have a few bragging rights like anyone else. It's not like they're running around saying "I'm so awesome, you all suck". Maybe I\'m just not leet enough but I genuinely cannot see what the big deal is whether someone new gets a badge or not. It's not like they get anything out of it - there's no rep, no special powers...just a different coloured badge under their name.

Re: Fable Modder

IF I understand correctly, people who don't even own Fable TLC might give themselves the modder tag because it allows them to attach files. Right?

Unless that is changed as well =]

Re: Fable Modder

I think thats a good idea of making it so people can add themselves. I'm not going to add myself yet though because I don't think I'm ready yet. I still probably need to finish my current "secret" project.:ninja:

Aye. I made a list that Hal (now The White Knight) has taken and ruined the formatting of in his thread here. Review it. You'll go through Arse Face, Nobhead, Salad Dodger, Pie Master before hitting 50 posts with the rank of Apprentice.

Glad to be of help
