FALLOUT 4

I haven't been this excited for a game in years. I'm getting a PS4 just for this game, no doubt about it.

I'm incredibly excited to develop my own settlements. DOOM looks incredible too. I know it irks some people but I'm glad there will be sunny days in Boston. Mix matching weapons and armor you can't ask for anything better.

NOVEMBER 15TH!!!

More little tidbits being rolled out from yesterday:

- Free form dialogue system allows you to converse with multiple NPCs at the same time, on-the-fly.
- You can name your dog.
- Skills appear to be merged with Perks now, kinda like Skyrim.
- Semi-destructible environments? Hard to tell.
- Male/Female protagonist voice actors have recorded 13,000 lines of dialogue each, so far.
- You can paint & decal your armor.
- You can apply custom names to your weapons (likely armor as well).
- Destructible armor & power armor (literally, it can fly/fall off).
- Sprinting (uses up AP)
- Power armor no longer requires Power Armor training? Hmm..
- You can customize your character's body, not just the face.
- Can target limbs with melee weapons in VATS.

Also, an interview with Todd Howard here:

PS4 mods are also confirmed by Todd as well, but Sony has to agree to it first (they'd be stupid not to). But I was NOT expecting console mods to finally be a thing, and they're free too! If this ends up being successful, it could potentially revolutionize console gaming for the better and be one step closer to removing that barrier between consoles & PC. Fallout 4 on consoles just got infinite replayability. Well played, Bethesda.

I actually adore the rich palette of colors we're getting, it really opens the door for so many interesting locations and scenery now. I hated that 3/NV were single palette games of only green and orange, it got old pretty fast. I love the town building as well, because now we get to finally have a physical impact on the world and help shape it, rather than simply by dialog choices or fetch quests, it's brilliant! The Republic of Dave shall live again. And yes, DOOM was amazing.

Also, Crossdressing confirmed. Giki-chan confirmed... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

More information is out:

- The entire E3 demo was being ran on an Xbox One (as is Bethesda tradition for MS consoles) at 1080p/30fps, so now we know it'll look very nice regardless of what platform you're on.
- The game was built around first-person, 3rd-person was worked in afterwards.
- Dogmeat cannot die (if there's a Hardcore/Survival mode like NV he might be killable though)
- New RADs system https://imgur.com/a/yThF2
- The cut Cryo weapons from Fallout 3 are finally in.
- You can cook food! http://puu.sh/iqpMx/5f01f80af7.jpg
- Warpaint/Facepaint system from Skyrim is in. (YEEESSSSS!!!)
- You can apply elements to your weapon ammo, such as fire and electricity (flaming teddy bears, anyone?)
- When you're zooming in with a sniper rifle, you have the option to hold your breath for better aim.
- Criticals are charge-based that you can fill-up over time, and then execute. No longer random chance.
- All NPCs and now creatures have executable kill animations on each other (similar to Skyrim)

Closer look at customization here: http://imgur.com/a/FDzNJ

Another interview of Todd Howard for more Fallout stuff:
EDIT: Okay so turns out Dogmeat CAN die, along with all other companions. They're simply unkillable while following you, but you have to physically jab them with a Stimpak to revive 'em which is very nice (no more stupid accidental deaths). Also, your robot Codsworth will be recruitable.
Still calling my town Scott Land. Just try and stop me.

Looking forward to being an iron-fisted dictator of the wasteland, myself. :shifty:

In fact, folks have already begun planting ideas for their own neon signs in their settlements. Not sure what I would end up designing, maybe a big ass sign that reads FREE BOOZE, with beers & vodkas neatly placed on a table, but riddled with death dealing traps. :troll:

He seems to say everything I want to hear and answers a lot of questions before I have even thought of them.

Flood of more info today I compiled (brace yourselves it's a BIG list, but awesome stuff) :steve:

- Female protagonist is voiced by *drum roll* Courtney Taylor aka JACK from Mass Effect. Hell yeah!
- Male protagonist is voiced by Brian Delaney.
- The voice actors briefly mentioned that there will be about 8 different types of character personalities based on dialog (good guy, cocky, evil, selfish, etc)
- Fallout 4 settlement building will borrow elements from the Fallout Shelter game. E.g. You'll need to maintain power, food, water, and happiness for your society/town or well... suffer the consequences.
- When building your settlement, you can set up your own radio playlist for the town audio system (and likely personal playlist for your pip-boy as well).
- Unfortunately Todd Howard confirmed that Dogmeat can't be renamed. He's named Dog when you meet him, then later on you find out his name is "Dogmeat". Ah well.
- The copy of FO3 that comes with FO4 on XB1 is the original 360 version (via backwards compatibility) and is not a remaster.
- You can put clothing on Dogmeat, here he is with an ascot/bandana around his neck.
- Player level can be as high as Lvl. 50, level cap unknown yet.
- The crosshairs have hit-markers.
- Inon Zur is returning to compose the soundtrack for FO4.
- Grenade hotkey, so you can now toss grenades and other throwables while wielding any weapon.
- Concept art shows an emphasis on underwater exploration (with power armor and massive creatures), underwater combat consequently confirmed if so.
- Closer example of destructible armor (also shows a new pop-up for being crippled): http://imgur.com/a/THHoG
- Dialogue wheel has a recurring pattern, and console buttons are color-coded: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/3a7w5h/i_noticed_a_pattern_with_the_fallout_4_dialogue/
- Fallout Shelter game for Android won't be out until a few months from now.
- Pip-Boy Collector's Edition is already sold-out for most retailers, Pete Hines doesn't know if they'll be able to restock since it was limited quantity. :(
- You can land your Vertibird at anytime and jump from it at anytime (possible parachutes?)
- You can craft chemicals/drugs in the game (mentioned in description from pre-order stores), sounds like Skyrim's alchemy system.
- If it wasn't already obvious, the super mutants in the game are 1st/2nd Generation mutants (intelligent greenies) from FO1-NV, and not the yellow 3rd gen "dumb-dumbs" from FO3.
- Lot of post-apocalyptic hairstyles (via artwork) that weren't featured in the pre-war gameplay that are likely unlocked later in the game with stylist NPCs.
- Dogmeat learns to sic, pounce, and tackle enemies via a perk.
- More uncompressed screenshots: http://imgur.com/a/pcun9
- Pip-Boy phone app can be used without Collector's Edition and works in real-time while you're playing the game, such as using the world map, changing radio stations on the fly, etc.

Todd Howard fully explains how mods will work on consoles: http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/06...odd-howard-talks-about-fallout-4-mod-support?

Summary: Bethesda will only be blocking console mods that involve nudity, porn, and illegal assets of other games unless Bethesda gets permission from the other developers (e.g. Halo, DMC, Final Fantasy assets etc.). Everything else is good to go and you'll be free to break your damn game if you want, even if the mod cripples performance (price of freedom really). You'll be given two separate game save paths: Clean default saves and your modded saves, so you don't damage anything important.

Another interview of Todd Howard, Emil, and the team on the game.

The man sure knows how to make a game. The fact he actually cares about their games and is passionate for them shows in his presentations because it's so easy, rather than some robotic PR speech that's been rehearsed (lookin' at you EA).
He seems to say everything I want to hear and answers a lot of questions before I have even thought of them.
Yeah, I was really worried about the Dogmeat being immortal news, cause I was like "Awww no, not essential NPCs again.. I wonder who else will be unkillable in the game." And then he later on clarifies that no, they found a middle-ground for it so you can blow Dogmeat's head off when you first meet him if ya want. I just love having that non hand-holding freedom is all where anything truly can happen. ^_^

By the way, has anyone else been goin' to town on that Fallout Shelter game? My best save thus far ended up getting corrupted from a crash (oh Bethesda...), but from what I played I've been really enjoying it thus far. Once you get the hang of it it's hard as hell to put down.
Todd Howard; Forever Young.
And before Todd and any of us know it, age is gonna slam him like ton of bricks in the blink of an eye. Why, just ask Jim Carrey!

Don't I know it. This is how it was described to me.

(In America) If you drive down the right side of the road you might get run over, drive down the left side of the road you will probably get run over, but drive down the middle of the road and surely you will get run over.

I have it on my phone but haven't had chance to play it yet. Haven't touched any games for weeks now as I've been too busy but trying to find some time to get some gaming in soon.

It's the first mobile game I've ever been perfectly okay with being addicted to. I even played it on my break at work today. Oh god I need help... If Todd Howard was a drug pusher he'd be the richest man alive.

Pete Hines is the tallest dwarf in the world.

And now you can never unsee it.

Gets your phone nice and hot too. But we can't stop Andy. We must never stop. :|

So turns out Bethesda actually did consider multiplayer for Fallout 4 (and apparently Skyrim even), but decided against it since it was deemed too distracting to the single player experience.

Same, I'm really glad Bethesda didn't opt out for a pay-to-win structure for the game and instead just went all "Hey, here's a fun little game we made to ease the wait until Fallout 4, have fun!". And in doing so the game completely decimated that god awful Candy Crush garbage without enticing fans to pay any money. Hope other devs learn from this.

Yeah really, this game sucks up power more than a Facetime video call. Game got my phone so hot for me it actually made me drop my phone by accident once, it's crazy. Hopefully they'll put out a patch or two for optimization and fix a few of the umm.... bugs.
