Re: Favorite books

Fair enough - back on topic, a favourite book of mine (albeit a kid's book) that I found again recently is The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. Fantastic and very very clever

Re: Favorite books

I watched the movie of that in like 5th grade

Re: Favorite books

I just picked up the newest Wheel of Time book and a new Discworld book... I am so looking forward to reading them...
... if I can ever find the time...

Does it tell how can you go back in time, and is it possible?

... no it doesn't...
...and yes it is possible... theoretically...

Re: Favorite books

Which Discworld book?

Re: Favorite books

He is awesome - I just started re-reading all the earlier works like Equal Rites and Mort. My parents got me into his stuff when I was younger and also Tom Holt's books...not read the science of Discworld though.

The Science of Discworld 3... Terry Pratchett is so good
I have to agree. Terry Pratchett is one of the best satirical artists of the 20th century. Among my favorites are “Color of Magic” and “Guards, Guards, Guards”.

the Science of Discworld novels have a much different take on the series... they aren't strictly written by just Terry Pratchett, but rather with science folk and him together who use the concepts of the discworld vs. the roundworld to analyse topics such as evolution which is the topic of this one. Really interesting if you're into that sort of thing... or just a big nerd...

by far the funniest thing I've ever read was Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman doing Good Omens... so good...

Re: Favorite books

The Winds Of War
Lord of the rings series
SHogun
Eragon and Eldest
The Bourne Identity
The Giver
ENDERS GAME
The Vampire Lestat
I could go on and on these are just some of my most recently read favorites

Re-read Guards Guards last week and I had forgotten how funny it was. Moving Pictures is good too - I love the satirical references to Hollywood and the celebrity lifestyle.

I might look into that then - my grandmother has all the Discworld paraphernalia such as maps, models and even a sculpture of A'Tuin. She is a total Discworld fan and might have the science books too - I hate buying new books coz they cost a fortune...

... does she have the Discworld game for ps1? :ninja:

Re: Favorite books

Dear Lord! There is a Discworld game. I must have it. What is it’s name?

Re: Favorite books

I once had a PC game featuring Rincewind - was totally cool but hard to complete.

My grandmother isn't even aware that cars have been created so it's doubtful that me saying ps1 is going to have any effect whatsoever. Sadly.

Re: Favorite books

Hey has anyone here read the books of J R R Tolkien, that one part of it is the Lord of the Rings.

I know LOR trilogy is over, but can there be still a movie that connects the story, the movie is just a part of the books Tolkien made

Re: Favorite books

I've read almost all of Tolkien's work - the Silmarillion was the hardest-going one of them all, but it does explain where certain LOTR characters came from such as Shelob and Sauron. I read the Hobbit as a child and I think there's some rumour of it being made into a film...I dunno...

Re: Favorite books

I loved the series by Piers Anthony
Incarnations of Immortality
1. On a Pale Horse
2. Bearing An Hourglass
3. With a Tangled Skein
4. Wielding a Red Sword
5. Being a Green Mother
6. For Love of Evil
7. And Eternity

Awww....I read the Hobbit when I was younger. A wonderful book I'd have to say - at the time I thought it was even better than the three books about the Ring.

That and Silmarillion are two must reads for anyone who likes LotR - They add alot of background for the characters and the world, aswell as some cool side-stories.

Yeah, you're right. I read the books years before the movies were made and I was dissapointed, in all their grandeur they forgot alot of little events that happens in the books.

I can't quite remeber if the fellow Tom Bombardill was in The Hobbit or the LotR books, but that is a funny little side story that I enyoyed alot.
