Yeah i've never used a gun that says "Explodes after reloading" I was like, "Whaaaaaaat???", So I guess thats what happens.. Lame..
I tend to go for guns that are powerful and have a good magazine size.. Not too worried if its not elemental or special.
Later in game you will find that you need to go elemental or go home.
I found that my prefered manufacturer depends on the weapon in question.
Sniper rifle: Jakobs makes wonderful sniper rifles, they pack a hell of a punch and this time their accuacy is decent as well. A good Jakobs sniper in the hands of the assassin makes heads dissapear in one hit almost every time. Hyperion and Maliwan make nice sniper rifles as well.
Shotgun: Hyperion. Not negotiable. This is where the Hyperion "accuacy increases with each shot" really shines. With a Jakobs shotgun, you gotta get right up in the enemies face to do much damage, not so with Hyperion.
Submachine gun: Maliwan. A submachine gun pretty much garentees the maximum effect of the element. Tediore sub machineguns can do massive damage if you throw them with a nearly full clip. Excelent when in fight for your life mode.
Assalt Rifle: Vladof or Tourge. I don't use the assalt rifles much in this game, mostly snipers and shotguns.
Rocket Launcher: Don't use em, ever.
Pistol: Jakobs, Tediore, or Hyperion
So I guess in the end, I have to go with Hyperion.
I don't really use the Bandit guns very often. Ammo capacity isn't much of an advantage. I guess the Bandit weapons just have large ammo clips to compensate for the fact that they usually suck.
Also, have you noticed that not every weapon manufacturer makes every type of weapon anymore? There seems to be no such thing as a Jakobs submachinegun, a Bandit sniper rifle, or Hyperion Assalt rifle, just to name a few.
