Every week i will post a 'Featured Game' in a new thread and sticky it. Could be one people have suggested to me doing over the course of the week, one of my most recently played games, an old favourite or a game i purchased and maybe didnt like.

I will post the details of the game and sometimes DLC and regardless of whether you have played it or not people can post what they liked in the game/ or liked the look of in the game and what they didnt like or thought could have been improved or what put them off the game if they didnt purchase it. Then over the course of the week people can voice their opinions (in an adult manner and respecting others opinions) might help some gamers try some games they thought they wouldnt enjoy or change some opinions.

Following is a brief description of my thoughts...

Thanks to Zjuggernaut for this weeks suggestion...

One of the best games ive ever played and a game that wowed me from the beginning, at the time id never seen such scale, detail and freedom in the same game. Freinds have lost hundreds of hours with this game and id have been the same if my save file hadnt corrupted after a patch. I spent 80 hours playing it and really enjoyed it, still yet to get to the end 4 years later but i will get around to it soon. Such an ambitious game with a mind boggling amount to do in it.

Pros

  • Huge open world (approximately 16 square miles (41 km square)
  • Hundreds of side quests and locations to find
  • Hundreds of NPC's to interact with and meet
  • Imaginative quests
  • Lots of replay value
  • Detailed character customisation and class system
  • Great magic system
  • Fantastic musical score which fits theme of the game well
  • For the time its graphics were superb
  • Lots of player choice in which ways you want to complete quests and where you want to go
  • Thousands of items to interact with (and steal)
Cons

  • Many players ran into bugs and glitches as it used the aging Gamebryo Engine
  • Loading times are frequent
  • Some characters are poorly voiced and repeated dialogue for others
  • Conversations take you out of the action
  • Enemies level with you
Now for this week people can voice their opinions on the game and any of the DLC they have played and i will do another game next week... Pros and Cons you found or if you havent played it things that appealed to you or things that put you off it...

Any questions about the thread or suggestions for next weeks featured game send me a message.

I actually had to look up what that was.

If no-one makes suggestions then its less likely they will be done. Having not played it, it wouldnt be in my list to do until people suggest it.

I heard about this game like 3 years ago but it never really spoke to me. After I played Fallout 3 and Fallout NV and heard Oblivion is the same but set in a different time I bought the game and it was an awesome game really like the big world, the fighting, the quests and the leveling system. To bad my game had frequent glitches and bugs that took me out of the game and made me not to play it anymore.

Was it console or PC version? I had issues with pc version and i too gave up on it back then after losing 80hrs of progress. I loved the game but that annoyed me, i have now reinstalled and patched fully and think it deserves to be finished before Skyrim hits.

Well I have to say I enjoyed it immensely, strangely enough I never really came across any major bugs during my entire play through it ran pretty smoothly on the 360 for me (guess I might have just got lucky.) I'm not sure whether I prefer Oblivion or Fallout 3 more though, I actually played Fallout first so when I heard that they were pretty similar in terms of gameplay mechanics I decided to give it a go. I had fun with it all the way, if my 360 wasn't broken I would have played through it a second time.

Hopefully when Skyrim comes out I'll have managed to get my hands on a decent gaming PC so I can enjoy the full experience, you know, mods and everything. ^_^

The sense of freedom is similar in both the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series but overall there is more to do in the Elder Scrolls series. Id hope to have a new PC by the time Skyrim hits too as i imagine the mods will be fantastic for it. Though it uses a new engine there are some brilliant ones for Fallout 3 and New Vegas so id like to see what the modding community can do with Skyrim.

2 things:

1) I've 100%'d Oblivion with an Archer and am pretty damn far into it with a Hand to Hand specialist (as a challenge)

You take a 2 year break and it's fresh all over again. the only downside is that it's difficult to get into. the game world is very vast and there isn't much effort made to hold your hand early on.

2) Shivering Isles is the best DLC ever released for any game ever made period the end.

I agree about the 2 year break point and i never got around to playing The Shivering Isles but heard good things about it. What was it that made it so good?

Loved this game, currently playing it through right now, For the... *cougth* 6th time *cougth* :) realy amazing game, recommend you get it on pc if you can due to the mods and stuff, also Xbox always seems to lag a bit but if you haven't played it you definitely should!

Also a recommendation for week 6 is The Orange Box
