My best series in my opinion is "War Arena" or "Robot Wars"

No, they're not good.

The best one was Robot wars, but it suffered from a crappy camera and boring map. Also way to easy. And try shooting with the mouse since you move with the mouse.

The games must have a challenge.
The maps can be improved by making it/them more complex. Having more than one map would also be nice.
All the allies makes it way, way to easy. Give the player more powers instead, but be careful so it don't gets unbalanced.
The player must be able to feel / see he gets better. New weapons, character, maps, enemies and so on. Take a look at the old 2D shooters like Space Invaders.
