How long do you think you'll still be a gamer?

Yeah and im liking that shooters and RPG have a good blend going on right now with titles like Deus Ex and Fallout series. I know they are RPG first and shooter second but it really works well and I think more shooters should incorperate RPG elements into them too. Melee and cover systems should be standard in shooters now, developers have found systems that work afterall.

Mass Effect also springs to mind.

In regards to the RPG, Shooter element with cover based combat playing a key role yeah. More games need the conversation wheel of the Mass Effect series as it would add a lot to games with conversation choices playing a major role.

That sounds like a good idea, but I can't shake the feeling that it would make games somewhat... cliché...

Just think games should have more branching stories from the choices you make as a player and give you more than physical choices to make.

As much as I agree and want that to happen it likely won't. Even Bioware can't do something that extreme. To have the main storyline differ depending on your choices and have wholly differing events unfold based upon the actions of the player... Again I'd love it but the amount of work that would need to be put into it would be incredible!

Truly it's the next step in storytelling in games, but I'd give it another decade or two before their ready to try that. I can't wait though.

They can have one over riding plot so they can end it how they wish but be nice to have some choice in side quests and how you get to that final destination.

Having a singular over-riding plot would make things easier but that's not what I want XD Imagine if the ending and even the main plotline changed depending on your choices and how you handle things. Then take it a step further, Mass Effect it. Now you have game 1 with multiple endings and plotline changes, carry that on through the 2nd and 3rd games with the same idea of your choices affecting how things play out.

Sadly what I want is likely just wishful thinking because I highly doubt anyone is going to put that much into a game. It's sad but very true.

It works but its a lot of work to continue sequels with every eventuality of the previous game thought about and considered without some continuity issues.

Yea it would be incredibly difficult. We won't see stuff that intricate for a long time.
