And I'm sure that the fact that the US has its gun-lovin' culture isn't to be blamed for all thugs running around with all those guns, hmm?

It is not rocket science; a large commersial market will naturally lead to an large illegal market. If you'd restrict guns in the private sector you will reduce it in the crminal sector. Illegal guns don't just pop up from thin air, most of them are gotten by legal means and then stolen or sold!

If you keep up this "We must win the arms race against the thugs!"-mentality, where will it end? People driving tanks to work and storing nuclear missiles in the yard? It is quite stupid, isn't it? The joke's on you when the criminals stick you up at tank point.

I'll say this, I frequently have target practice in my back yard on paper man targets, and mine and my neighbors (who does the same with his makarov) are the only houses that have never been broken into by the local drug addicts.

You don't need an automatic weapon to protect you from drug addicts. A simple baseball bat will do.

The obsession that many conservative Americans have with guns, and especially the more destructive ones, is dangerous and unhealthy. If you need to defend yourself, carry a taser or pepper spray. You want to disable the target, not maim them.

But of course those two alternatives don't satisy the level of bloodlust that can be bred by a conservative upbringing.

Neither Arseface or I are "liberals"; we're an Aussie and a Swede with outside perspectives on the matter. I, personally, could care less about both liberals and conservatives. The two-party system is stupid anyway.

I just think such a gun-lovin' culture it is blatantly stupid and highly illogical.

There's plenty of violence in the world. This reminds me of when a SWAT team raided the house two over from mine. Apparently these gangsters were storing drugs and weapons right there. I could smell the tear gas and it was awesome to watch.
