I Miss Fable

I really do. Fable 2 was the reason I wanted an Xbox in the first place. I spotted it in Game one day and knew that was the kind of game I would love, and I was right. I put hours upon hours into Fable 2, then went back and bought the first game afterwards.

Then Fable 3 came out. I was so excited for it, but it never lived up to my expectations. It was a good game, but it never had the same feel as the second game did. I hate that it jumped so far forwards in time, and that everything changed. It was no longer about mirth and magic, but about industrialisation and tyranny, and I hate the fact that that happened. Fable 2 had so much humour and was really fun to play, while still being challenging at times as well. Fable 3 was far too easy, and it just wasn't as fun a game.

Who else misses the way Fable used to be? I know i'm not the only one.

ur not the olny 1 i do to as fable 2 was my 1st ever xbox 360 game i ever got and i still play fable 2 and fable 2 is so much more fun then fable 3

I think Fable 2 has been my favourite to be honest.
I'm too young to have fully appreciated how good Fable was at the time it came out and Fable 3 felt like a completely different setting to me. I much preferred the fantasy feel of the second one over the Steampunk feel of the third.

Exactly. I wanted Fable 2 because it was a fantasy style game, which is the kind of thing I often look for in video games. Fable 3 almost didn't feel like a Fable game to me because they changed it so much.

I first played fable as a free download from XBL (where you could only play so far), really enjoyed it and bought the game, I agree they changed alot of fable with 3 but I still had fun with it, enjoyed it while it lasted, but did miss some elements from the previous games, mostly the spells tbh - really enjoyed slowing time down muahahaha

Well I still had fun with it, but not quite as much as I had with Fable 2. I wanted Hammer to return, she was my favourite character, but they chucked in Reaver instead. Although it is Stephen Fry, so I suppose that's alright .

I Looooooooved Fable/TLC, it was amazing, first ever game I really fell in love with I guess, Haha. I remember (When I was in school) I'd fake sick just so I could stay home and play it because I could rn away into my fable reality and forget about the "real world"

That is why I like Fable games so much.. Fable 2 was good, I enjoyed it alot, Like you said, alot of Humour/Fun to it.

Fable 3 ruined it for me, killed the whole Fable experience for me, unfortunately..

But now, Im still searching for my "Fable" game again, where I could hide away in my imagination.. Hopefully that day comes soon.

Ater playing fable 2 and 3 i tried fable TLC and i was suprised by the amount of detail it already had. I thought marriage and real estate had first appeared in 2 and i was surprised to see it in the second, as well as armour. Still, while i prefer the timeframe os the second, the existance of the heroes guild and other heroes, amongst other things, made the world feel more vivid and alive than the second. It also seems to last longer, the 2nd was really short...

Fable 1/TLC was the best
2 was good but had huge changes, some for better, some...not so much
3 is an abomination

If Fable 4 goes back to its Fable 2 like game play, the magic system must be changed. then all will be well
If it goes back to Fable1/TLCs style, i will cum rainbows of joy

When I say far forwards in time, I didn't so much mean it literally as I did the fact that the whole era was different, it wasn't as much magical as it was industrial.

And that sounds lovely and somewhat painful :L.

Oka so fable the lost chapters was a success but it was because you got bigger stronger bad ass armor and weapons and if you died it was a big deal cause you had to start the quest over .....fable 2 and 3 well they wernt the same people like games like the original fable people likes the medieval Type stuff and fable 2 and 3 well one you look puny I liked becoming huge and stuff fable 2 and 3 it don't matter if you die and the antagonist people well there pathetic..stop waisting your time and money going forward to a dieing franchise you have 2 smart options 1.remake fable the lost chapters the same just better graphics 2.go back in time before fable one people like fable 1 people like skyrim games like that make you idk just feels good playing them we like strong weapons cool armor it doesn't make the game easy if you put strong creatures in it people like hard ,fun ,medieval games and fable 2 and 3 were like a walk in the park.

Just remembered something, knothole island was the first piece of DLC I purchased, im not overly fond of DLC and have only purchased a small amount, but I remember playing fable 2 and really enjoying it, after a bit of "googling" on whether or not I could get my dog back (have a guess what ending I choose lol) I decided to buy the DLC first game I had that I felt the need to buy the DLC. Been a while since ive played 2 though, had a go at Fable 1/tlc a while back and been thinking of re-playing 2 recently.

I really like the industrial/steampunk setting of Fable III to be honest. It's really not something that you see in games, so it's refreshing in its own way. But I do agree that the series has lost a lot of its magical feel, even if it's due to simple familiarity than anything. At least, that's how it is for me.

Well I sort of agree, it's an interesting idea, but not for Fable. They should have made a new series if they wanted to start all that, for me, Fable is about magic, not industry.

But it just wasn't - looking back and replaying Fable 2, the game's pretty good. But it doesn't have the same je ne sais quoi as the first. Just remember how awesome Khothole Glade was in the first/TLC. Then doing the arena. Even little things like the underwear race in Bargate that make it so awesome. Interesting that it's Fable 2 that has this for you.

The reason that Fable 2 had this effect for me was because Fable 2 was the first game I played in the series. I've often told the story of how it was Fable 2 that gave me the push I needed to get an Xbox, because I saw it and thought it looked just like my kind of game. So to me, when I think of the feel of Fable, I think of Fable 2, because it was my first experience with the franchise.

To be honest, I haven't played much of the first Fable. I bought it when it was on sale in the Xbox Game Marketplace, and I played it for a while, but I found it difficult to get used to the controls (what with there no longer being black or white buttons), and I also didn't like the fact that I couldn't talk to my friends while playing because I was disconnected from Xbox Live. Additionally, I hated that I bought the first one and then came here to be told that I should have bought Fable TLC and not Fable 1 (which they weren't even selling on the Marketplace). In a way, I felt like i'd wasted my money.

Now, I can't even remember what i'm supposed to be doing in Fable, because it's been that long since I last played. So for me, it just doesn't feel the same, because when I started playing Fable 2, I didn't leave it alone for months. That's just me though.

I'd recommend going back, starting again on Fable and trying to finish it. TLC's just an upgrade on Fable 1, sure it's better but it's like playing Fable 2 without See the Future, or Knothole Island. Fable is charming and funny in a way that's unparalled IMO, you might find it difficult to enjoy as you'll be going backwards in the series however. But I'd still recommend giving it another go when you have some free time. If you're dedicated you can beat it in a couple days.
