I'm thinking of getting one but I've never been into Apple stuff, so I dunno when the new one will be coming out. Should I get the 4g or wait until the 5g comes out? (When does that come out?)

Apple churn out a new model every five minutes, so by the time you've forked out for one, the "latest" version will be grinning at you smugly from the glossy pages of a catalogue within a few months. iPod's are nowhere near as good as they were when they first came out and the battery life is shocking when compared with pretty much any other brand. They break more easily too so if you do get one, be careful not to do anything silly like picking it up or looking at it.

But if you really want one, then get whichever one is most suited to your needs - if you don't need 5G and are never likely to need it, then stick with the 4G. But if the 5G is hardly any different in price, you may as well go the whole hog and get the biggest you can afford.

Did networks just start running on 4G? And we're already talking about 5G? I hate people.

I'm getting one in the new year I think. I've heard that the 5g is being released early 2011, summer or winter so I really dunno.

Ide say just buy the 4g to be honest. 5g wont have that much diffrence i couldnt tell the diffrence between a 2g and a 4g accept the 2 cameras.

buy an old 80gb ipod video, spend 20 dollars on an indestructable hard plastic case
you've just spent less than you would've for a "latest model" and you have an ipod that'll last you pretty much forever and never run out of space.

you're welcome.

Cheez is right - the old ones are the good ones. Newer models of pretty much anything these days are designed to collapse in no time at all, forcing you to either spend on expensive warranties or buy the next model up. Cars, appliances, phones, MP3 and MP4 players...all of them do it. It's why you'll never see your great-aunt's knackered old VW Jetta breaking down but you'll see the latest Lexus in a quivering heap on the motorway inside of six months of purchase.

It's such a satisfaction to only buy the just-not-the-newest-anymore products. They're always cheaper than the most recently released amazing things, but you're still up-to-date.

Wait! Didn't the 4G just come out? This is worse than how I felt when the Xbox 360 Slim came out, my Xbox 360 feels obsolete, meh.
