Sure, if he gets into a fight he can't break his braces, but he can break his actual teeth. Probably not the best advice.
Also, I've heard that braces don't work in the long run, and that teeth will go back to their original spots after a while.

It's no uncommon for that to happen. My sister had very minor orthodontic work done and her teeth remained in their correct positions. I had extensive work including extractions, two retainers and one set of fixed braces and within a week of the fixed ones coming off, my teeth started to shift back. They are nowhere near as bad as they were but it is still pretty noticeable, especially at the bottom. One of the many reasons I despise smiling in public - I'm incredibly self-conscious about the state of my mouth.Arseface;368521 said:

:lol: Well I'm unfortunately very aware of how it looks - even in my wedding photos I'm not smiling open-mouthed. Mind you, neither is Steve. We're both fairly self-conscious in that respect I guess.
