Jailbroke My iTouch

Everything went fine. but for the past ... 30 minutes it's shown the USB and arrow pointing to the iTunes and when I bring up iTunes it says "An iPod in recovery mode was detected. You must restore this iPod before it can be used in iTunes." Am I boned? Have I ****ed myself over?

Re: Jailbroke My iTouch

This is why I don't risk things like this.

Although I've only got 113 songs, unlike my friend who has 1917. o.0

Anyhow, there's little chance you've lost everything. iTunes automatically backs your library up. Just find it and load it into iTunes.

Re: Jailbroke My iTouch

I really don't see why everyone is so afraid of jailbreaking. If you follow the instructions fully, it should work.

So, if you want to get it fixed, just make sure of a few things like:

Were you using the proper tool for that firmware? The latest firmware is 3.1.2, and Windows users need to use blackra1n, and Mac users use the PWNage tool from the iPhone dev team.

And I believe your iPod was in DFU mode. I'm about to jailbreak to the latest firmware myself, so I'll go and make sure everything is in order and working properly.

And yes, all your stuff should either be backed up, or in you lists and you can resync through iTunes.

Re: Jailbroke My iTouch

Alright, so I used blackra1n to jailbreak, and I must say, it took the fun out of jailbreaking. I remember for the 2g on 2.2.1 firmware it required you to extract you firware into redsn0w and then patch it, then manually put it in through iTunes. Blackra1n just automatically installs it at the push of a button. Oh well, user friendly I guess.

Re: Jailbroke My iTouch

I did a similar thing to my PSP. I was the first one to do it in the school, and everyone asked me to do theirs for them. I was the most loved man in the world for about a week. After about two years of working flawlessly, it now doesn't respond to anything. On/off doesn't work, battery, etc.

It's not relevant or interesting. But it is true.

I miss that PSP.
