KOTOR 3

This just occured to me when I noticed Hex's new KOTOR signature-image. When I searched all I saw was the article posted by, as I remember, Drakan, about a KOTOR MMORPG.

Does anyone think/hope/pray/wish there'll be a third Knights of the Old Republic? What do you think if its MMO?

I hope there is one, since I enjoyed the first two, but I hope it isn't MMO, or that it's optional. I've never played one, but I fear that I'd have to pay and that making it MMO would take away from what I enjoyed about the games-- which, really, was the storyline and not just the fact that I could make badass dual-saber wielding Jedi.

Just about the only thing I disliked about the previous two was the stupid combat gameplay. The only thing that would be worse than having it the same way in a third game would, I believe, be having it the same way in an MMO third one.

Re: KOTOR 3

I think there are a lot of people asking the same question and hoping and praying they are working on a proper KotOR III(I know Hex has been for a long time!). The link i posted was referring to a KotOR MMORPG but i dont think they would bring it out as one of series and would only use the name as a hype point for it. As the main thing that made the KotOR series such a good one was the branching storys and moral choices and they arent really possible in MMORPG's. I am almost certain there will be one but as of when i couldnt possibly say. I thought the combat system would be terrible as on paper it sounds awful and boring but i actually quite liked it and liked some of the strategy involved in it.

Re: KOTOR 3

LucasArts have said that they wish to continue the story they began with the Knights of the Old Republic, but have not given any hint of when...
and while Bioware have stated that they are only interested in working on their own IP's now, Obisidian has definitively said they would make KotOR III if LucasArts were to give the go ahead...
They are well aware people want it and know the possibilities it would hold, but as for when they get around to making it we just have to sit around impatiently waiting...
As for whether it would be an MMORPG, that just wouldn't be possible if they wished to stay true to the series, unless as Andy said, they merely wished it to take place in the Old Republic without it actually being a sequel...

I will officially explode all over the place the day I hear LucasArts confirm they are working on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic III...

Re: KOTOR 3

You're not the only one-- I really, really, enjoyed the first two. My little sister would actually do the same-- they, mostly the first, are the only XBox game she plays, aside from Fuzion Frenzy.

I do hope they change the combat, though. I disliked the combat style which, to me, was just A) Nerve-wracking, and B) Dull and monotonous. Though it could be that the alternative would be worse.

And yes, I agree that a true-to-series MMORPG would not be true to the series.

What I'm really hoping for is the chance to see my favorite characters from the first two working together in the third. I just plain loved Jolee Bindo, HK, T3-M4, Bao-Dur, Mandalore/Canderous, and Mission Vao. The remote/Bao-Dur is a close second to Bindo, who was my absolute favorite (a rarity, since I rearely have absolute favorites).

I really look forward to it.

And, actually, so long as it isn't a sequel, a MMORPG in the same vein MIGHT be cool... if we're lucky.

I do have a question about the combat system-- what do you mean by strategy? I basically just sat there and slapped "X" on "Power Attack" the whole time, pausing to cycle through my various party members. The only time I varied was when I had to erase some of those to do antidotes or medpacs or Force powers.

Re: KOTOR 3

I will be so thrilled WHEN I hear that they are going to make KotOR III. It is is one of my all time favorite games or should I say two. I would sometimes play it just for Pazaak
Maybe we could play against each other in Pazaak online that would be awesome!

I would not want it to be MMORPG. I have seriously never play one however. I was thinking that the next one could deal with you having Jedi apprentices that deviated to the opposing side of the force.

My favorite lines from the game
"One..."

"Two..."

:ninja:

Re: KOTOR 3

I heard that their going to make it only for xbox 360(man that would suck).

Re: KOTOR 3

I'm sure it would eventually make it to the PC probably on Vista

Some nimble enemies power attack didnt work and you had to use flurry but if your skill wasnt high enough even that would miss and you had to rely on force powers, but then some force powers didnt work on other enemies and so on.

Wouldnt bother me in the slightest if it was done right.

Jolee Bindo and Mission Vao will not be characters in any future KotOR titles,
unless they are in the form of flashbacks due to the storyling allowing for them to be killed if you played a Dark Side character in KotOR...

Re: KOTOR 3

What????
You can kill Mission and Jolee???
That just plain sucks. I really wanted to see them again...
And since I hate retconning I can't even say I hope they do that. Damn you worthless evil-playing people! Killing my favorite characters... [mock-sob]

And yeah, I guess I see what you're saying about the strategy...

And yeah, on the sunject of Pazaak-- at one point I actually got pretty good at it. At first, though, I just lost lots of money.

Re: KOTOR 3

I wouldn't mind a KOTOR MMORPG myself (although due to the fact that I'm currently playing Lord Of The Rings Online it could make payment difficult) if they did it right (There's got to be someone to throw in moral choices and branching storylines in an MMORPG...In fact, I know you could, only that their could be issues if one guy in a party wanted to make a dark side choice and the other wanted to make a light side.) although I suppose a "true" KOTOR III would be appreciated. I'm just not going to knock the idea of a MMORPG.

Re: KOTOR 3

All charaters could be included, if the stories are writtern correctly.
as in KotOR 2, convosations allowed for Bastilla and Carth to be dead, or missing, or in as cameo
I hope they make a third, it'd be a shame to leave it as only 2 games, and a number of comics.

Re: KOTOR 3

Ignore the first spoiler. What I said there is false. The second is valid.

Um... sorry, Ravan, but your examples are false. I know that they had Carth in cutscenes and messages in cutscenes, and as I remember they had Bastila with him in one.

Question-- did they actually drop the Bastila and Carth cutscenes in KOTOR II if you said that they were dead in the beginning?

ok... Serious spoilers... this applies to both KotOR and KotOR II...

there is no option to state whether Carth or Bastilla are dead... that would be too awkward to bring up in conversation since you didn't even know these people which is why I don't believe Mission and Jolee can be brought back... but anyhoo...
you are asked if Revan saved or conquered the Republic... if Revan was a saviour, Carth is an admiral... he will be shown in various recordings on the Harbinger, come to get you on the station, and be in a recording made by T#... also, he is not only in "cutscenes", he is an actual character in the game whom you can go and talk to on the station in the final battle...
if you said Revan conquered the Republic, Carth is not mentioned, though of course, he could be alive, just as Bastilla could be alive if Revan was light side, but Bastilla is shown in a holocron on Korriban stating she is going after Revan...

Re: KOTOR 3

Yeah, that's what I thought. Ravan confused me saying that they could also be dead...

Thanks. All I remembered was seeing Carth and Bastila talking about the Exile in some cutscene or other. And yeah, I play good all the way. I've tried to start evil games, but I lose interest and go elsewhere.

there is no cutscene in KotOR II in which Carth and Bastilla are shown together talking about the Exile, or together at all...
this is because if one is alive the other could be dead and there is no way to know exactly how your individual game went...
in fact, there isn't ever anything to even suggest that Bastila is aware of the Exile at all...

Re: KOTOR 3

Um... I don't know about that. I have very vivid memories, on Telos, I believe, of Carth meeting with the Exile and then Bastila coming in after and talking to him about the Exile and Revan. I could be wrong. The only way I could know for sure would be to play the game again, something I doubt I'd do.

It might also have been a cutscene of them on board a ship after sending a message to the Exile or something. I don't remember. And, of course, according to you, it never happened.

Hallucinatory memories of videogames. What fun.

If its about KotOR anything Hex says is gospel truth im sure, as ive never met such a big fan of the series or anyone who knows more ^_^

Re: KOTOR 3

Yeah. I'm forced to assume I'm retroactively hallucinating in additional cutscenes.

Re: KOTOR 3

The Cutscene with both Bastila and Carth is only avalible at the end of the game once enough questions are asked and answered by the Exile for the game to know Roughly the out come of the previous game. If certain things aren't in place the carth appears on his own, or not at all.
My knowledge on this period of KotOR Rivals my Friends and the actual makers. most of it gained from Wookiepedia. For instance Darth Nilihus possible original name is Zayne Carrik.

Further to add, Mission and Jolee, aren't in place as they may or may not be Dead. Nor are they needed for main part of the game. Jolee is however mentioned if you talk to the Discple, and its assumed that he's alive as he did the Rim ward missions AFTER Kotor 1 but before II. and is only mention if revan was hero i belive. He's mention to the Hand maiden as a refence to jest, when refer about her mother pulling a "BINDO" on the concil and performing procreation with Yusannis of Echani.
