So, basically, the only thing we can ever be sure of is death, therefore, death is the meaning of life?

That's a bit morbid.

And, @ DarkenSoul, by 'What is the meaning of life' I mean 'Why are we alive? What is the purpose of life?' maybe the purpose of life is to try and work out what the purpose of life is, which means I've just made some huge paradox and we're all going to DIE

The "meaning" of any form of action is the end result. The end result of life is inescapably death. As such the "meaning" of life has to be for it to end. You should note though that you asked only for the meaning of life, not what we should spend the time that we have doing. Just because the meaning of life is to eventually die, it doesn't mean that we should jump off a cliff or just sit around waiting for the inevitable.

Ok. So the Meaning of Life isn't to die, but the only thing in life we can be certain of is death.

Maybe the meaning of life is simply to live.

The meaning of digging a hole is to end up with a hole. The meaning of a journey is to reach the end destination. The meaning of eating something is....

I could go on and on. The meaning of life is to live it and then fall over and die.

Yes. But as I said, the "meaning of life" is not synonymous to/with "what you should do with your life". It does for animals since they just live, breed and die. Humans have the ability to pick their own destiny.

Yeah the end result is a hole, but you dig because you have a reason for digging.

Some journey's aren't about reaching the end destination, people take road trips or, like our resident tramper Adam, he goes on adventures for the sake of adventure.

I agree that the meaning of life is to die, then the question pops up, why do we live if the destination is death?

Ah, but that is your reason for undertaking the journey. The journey itself sees no other meaning in it's existence other than to reach the end destination.

When asking about the meaning of life one doesn't ask how one should spend their life. You're inquiring to the very nature of the "existence" of your sentient life.

But that is for you to decide. Only time will tell whether death is something to look forward to, or is just another phase of excistence...as Tsuyu nicely put it

Basically, the meaning of life could be like
... digging a hole in order to get a hole.
... or digging a hole just to fill it up again.
... or digging a hole for fun because you know you`re screwed either way.
