Meeting The Parents

Ok well i might be meeting my girlfreinds parents soon and im scared as hell, there really strict and will probably judge me like a peice of meat! what should i do? it's inevitable i have to meet them so she'll be allowed near where i live (we live a good load of miles away from each other) What should i DEFINATLY NOT do? and what should i do ti break the ice and come off a nice guy?

All advice will be muchly appreciated!!

oh man, looks like you have a ticking FailBomb, well, i know this is weird, but be yourself, if they cant handle that, then that's not cool, you don't want to act like someone or something you're not to impress people, again, sounds weird, but it's true, i mean yeah, act good and be polite, but just be who you are, crack a joke or two, not necessarily like dirty or racist jokes, but some clean, non racist jokes, let them know about who you are, tell them stuff about you

Listen to that, he went into MUCH more detail than I did. And did more thought. You could always pretend to be a puppy though. EVERYONE loves puppies.....except people that are allergic.

John's right. If this one time meeting will determine whether you get to see your girlfriend at all, don't take any risks. Treat it like a job interview (although leave your resume at home) and lie your arse off.

:lol: You, sir, are monumentally screwed...

Nah, just keep your mouth shut - parents can smell a bullsh***er from a mile off. Sucking up to the parents impresses no one and makes it harder for you to keep the facade up next time - so be yourself provided that doesn't involve a foul mouth, sexual innuendo and leet speak. Also don't do any of the things JohnDoe advised against.

Strict parents are not necessarily a bad thing because at least it shows they give a crap about the calibre of boyfriend their daughter chooses. You won't be good enough by default until they get to know you better. Don't let get verbal diarrhea out of nervousness, don't BS and be polite and courteous. You don't have to make out like you're perfect either - just be you. Within reason.

I don't get what all the fuss is about?
As long as your'e slightly respectable, don't do drugs and act like a sane person I don't see why they shouldn't like you.

The first time my ex's parents saw me, I came walking into their kitchen in the morning dressed in just my underwear. I had no idea they were home. They had no idea who I was. I thought I was going to die!
But guess what, it worked out fine and her parents liked me anyway.

Ok i just found out her mums catholic D: what if they ask what my religion is? how wil "im bhuddist" come off D: what if she tries to convert me D: ill stab her with her false idol upon a cross!!

Just keep off all topics to do with the Pope, how wealthy the Vatican is compared with all the poverty in the world and anything related to conspiracy theories which concern Catholicism :devil:.

To be honest, she probably won't be bashing you over the head with her bible or anything - if she's proper catholic and not just baptised as one as a child then try not to use God's name as a curse word or say "Jesus ****ing Christ!" Never goes down well ;)

Otherwise, don't worry about it.
