Memorial Day Tribute

Memorial Day Tribute

RIP Grandfather Eddy - Bomber Gunner in World War 2.

My grandfather was a gunner on a bomber in World War 2, flew missions over Germany and nowday Czechoslovakia. A buddy of his got shot to pieces so badly that they had to wash out what was left of him, my other grandfather on my mom's side was in the military as well, but during 1958 when we were not at war, still a very good man. My uncle, flew bombing missions over North Vietnam during the Vietnam War but never talked about it to anybody so I have nothing more to say about that. Throughout the years, men and women of our armed forces as well as the United Kingdom and Canada (and more) have risked their lives to protect our countries and help others gain freedom, many have also died so to remember them I made a video in remembrance. The reason why it stops at the Vietnam War is because the website I was using only allows 200+ pictures when I have about 500+ so I will be making a part 2 but this is what I have so far. If you see a soldier in the street or on the road let them know you care and thank them.

Thank you, have a nice day.

- Sean.

Re: Memorial Day Tribute

I actually haven't seen one single war movie or commercial supporting the troops. Shows the true America.

Re: Memorial Day Tribute

I appreciate it Evan =) One of my grandfather is still alive and so is my Uncle though.

Re: Memorial Day Tribute

So, this is like your ANZAC Day?

I don't know how I feel about this sort of thing, so I'm not going to comment further.

Re: Memorial Day Tribute

My grandfather on my dad's side was in the World War II era American army. He was an unspecialized military engineer. He was set to be sent on Operation Overlord, but he was reassigned to fix typewriters until the end of the war. My grandfather on my mother's side was a Green Beret during the Vietnam war. He served as a paratrooper and taught me how to rip someones throat out with my bare hands. My uncle served in the Air Force as a runway director. There's my contribution. Let's all show some respect.

Re: Memorial Day Tribute

Seems like most your family joined, John? How come you didn't? Just curious if you don't want to explain why that's fine.

Re: Memorial Day Tribute

Well, my grandfather on my dad's side served in WWII. He was a pilot, but he didn't fight. He transported various things like troops and supplies, but his most significant accomplishment happened around the end of the war. He was tasked with flying over Hiroshima after the bomb was dropped to take pictures. So if you see a picture of the aftermath from above, it's possible that my grandfather took it.

I have a great uncle that also served. He is that same grandfather's sister's husband. I'm not completely sure what he did, but I can only assume that he was involved in combat because he was captured and was a POW. He was gassed, and now he has a some difficulty speaking clearly.

Re: Memorial Day Tribute

My grandfather was in the vietnam war. Not sure who he fought for, or what he really did, but I know he was in it. He's still alive, maybe I could ask him to tell me his stories if he wants to go back...probably won't because of the atrocity.

Re: Memorial Day Tribute

My grandfather fought in the war. I don't know much about him.

He died of a stroke.
