Middle School...

Re: Middle School...

Well, they give me the wrong ADV Classes first, like I wasn't really going to that normal class because I sign up for the ADV. I also want the same classes in different order. I also want C lunch.. not B lunch. C lunch is where all of my friends are.. I haven't got to meet to many new people.
Do you understand?

Re: Middle School...

What is Applied Nutrition anyways?

That's where they give you the nice things like pizza, and then they don't heat it up and they take all of the things that make pizza taste good. :'(

Re: Middle School...

That just sounds like any food made by WeighWatchers to me...

  That's funny. Yeah.. That's what it is.
I'm trying to lose wight...

Re: Middle School...

[Snicker] It seems that Applied Nutrition (or, as it showed up on my schedule, Appl Nut) is a generic Home economics ([GASP] Not politically correct! I mean, "Family and Consumer Sciences) class.

And yeah, I understand, Triz. Fortunately, I spend most lunches reading so I don't have to worry about **** like that. They don't let you switch because you dislike your lunch schedule, though. They think that's a bad reason, for some strange reason.

Re: Middle School...

Lucky you, I don`t have the chance to choose my classes.

Re: Middle School...

I don't either, but I mean at least hook a bother up every once in a while. ( I was called a brother from this guy at school so now people are like, your a brother. That's why I said brother.)

Re: Middle School...

At least you guys get some element of choice at school - for me it was whatever I was told to do and no questions. When we got to GCSE year we could choose some elements but even then our schedules were messed up so half the time we had to drop a favourite subject to take some crappy half course in Home Economics (yes, I will always call it that). Who really cares about the protein in a can of baked beans anyway?

College was better because I could pick and shuffle everything so that every Wednesday was pub day as far as I was concerned...:D

Yes, college is good because of that.
I`m probably taking an extra latin course, when I eventually go there. :P (We don`t usually use the term college very much, univerity is common).

Re: Middle School...

Here University is usually for those who finished school at 18 rather than at 16 and want to do more education. College for me was for ages 16-18 because I couldn't stand the thought of continuing my education at school. Best choice I ever made

So there is a difference. We have colleges here, but I think not very much. I`m not sure though.
And it`s impossible to finish school at 16 here(if you`re not a genius).
Some go to university at age 18 or 19 and some go to learn a profession after 9th grade. Yeah, it`s different.

Re: Middle School...

Colleges and Universities are different here too... I know some Americans I've talked to used the two words to mean the same thing and it kind of confused me at first
Colleges usually train you in something involving a career... like nursing or something... they're more hands on and have smaller classes...
Universities are the big lecture halls where you get Doctorates and stuff...
but you can't start either until you've either finished high school or turned 21

Re: Middle School...

I still got one more day of relaxation after today muhahaha then back to the old hell hole again T_T

Re: Middle School...

It is possible sometimes to get to university if you are under 18 but you have to be insanely clever and/or have pushy parents who don't think you should have a life until either they are dead or you're about 50...

If you don't do A Levels but want to get into university at a later date it is also possible to do what is called an Access Course which provides you with the points necessary to access higher education. They put a massive emphasis on getting your GCSE's and A Levels but when you turn 21 neither qualification means a thing - so long as you can read and write, you can usually manage to enrol on some kind of course to put you on the road to a degree or PhD...

Distance learning has become very popular here too but it can be very expensive...perfect for those currently working but wanting to improve their skills, attain a new qualification or just the satisfaction of having those little letters after their name

Re: Middle School...

Yeah, here, after 12th grade most people go to college, which means the same thing as university, though Ivy League schools and the like use University because it sounds better :P

OK, maybe American films got me confused.
Anyway, I now understand what the difference is. Maybe they aren`t the same thing, but something similar to

is very common in Estonia too, but we usually use another word.

It`s so sad talking about school. It starts tomorrow for me and past few weeks have been very cold. Wasn`t able to enjoy the end of my summer holiday.

Re: Middle School...

Well we've had mostly rain here so it hasn't been all that great either...mind you, I don't have school anymore :D Still, seeing all your friends again would be good, no?

Re: Middle School...

Overall, weather was nice, until a few weeks back when a big lightning storm turned all cold, windy and rainy.
It`s nice to see friends, but I`ve seen most (and best) of them during the summer anyway. I go to a choir with most them and we`ve had a couple of things, including a choir camp.
And I`ve visited my best friend from school a couple of times so... but it`s good to socialise anyway.
I just don`t want those Russian and German classes. I like Russian, but its too damn hard.

Re: Middle School...
