Modding an Xbox 360?

(Before this topic gets locked, I want to make it clear that I am not talking about the disk drive mod allowing players to burn games)

Would it be possible to take mods from the PC (because everyone knows mods make a game better, just look at Oblivion) and import it onto the Xbox 360?

I mean, people could edit their saves with hex-editors, why can't they add user modifications?

Would there be problems though? Like adding different animations/textures to a game's library would seem to be a difficult thing to do, without modding tools like the construction set...

There's be large limitations too, right? Like adding enhanced textures (i.e. Qarl's Texture Pack was a whopping few GB's) and it would drag down the FPS.

But my question is, would it ever be possible?

It is an extremely tedious and difficult task; but yes, it can be done. No, I don't know how.

360 modding is a dark and scary place, but it probably can be done.

Damn I wish I had a decent gaming computer. :(

My friend Mods Oblivion and CoD.

He says he just uses a transfer cable, though there's probably more too it.

Re: Modding an Xbox 360?

The moment the 360 loads the mod, the warranty is void. Be warned.

Borderlands has quite a few modded weapons from the PC version that people have hacked into the 360. I have a few of them :X

I'm pretty sure 360 and PC players can play together on Borderlands, which is why you get the modded crap in the 360 version.

Nope, my friends and I have tried; they use different servers.

Re: Modding an Xbox 360?

The Borderlands mods are just hex editing the weapon's stats, but what I'm talking about is like full scale modding, adding new animations, models, textures, etc.

Zjugg, your friend just uses a wireless transfer cable? What is he modding exactly?

Agh, JD, I bet that you could do it, with your vast knowledge. Agh. I just wish that there would be some sort of system to be able to download the PC content and put that onto the Xbox.

They should do that like with oblivion, maby Besethda could have a vote on a pack of mods ( after virus check ect ect ect ) , and release it as DLC. lord knows almost everyone who has stopped playing oblivion would start again.

Re: Modding an Xbox 360?

The problem with the Borderlands modded weapons is that they are all overpowered garbage. Who the hell needs a pistol that fires like 80-bajillion rockets that do 9999x9999 damage? Surely someone out there has the ability to make something that seems even moderately legit. For example, the game puts the weapons together with random parts, so you could select all of the best possible parts for whatever gun you want. For example, creating the best possible Hellfire SMG, it would be modded, but it would still be something the game's loot system could have come up with. But so far all I have seen floating around is overpowered crap. And the majority of them don't even try to make the gun even look legit, they don't bother to put all the parts on so you end up seeing some guy who is holding an invisible gun with a floating barrel.
