Money stuff

Anyone who lives in England will know about the recession and stuff. Well, my boyfriend's just moved back onto his boat. Food is way too expensive, he can't get a job, and he;s struggling lol. Anyone got money-saving/money-making tips?

Re: Money stuff

There's bugger all work available in England atm, our economy is screwed. Yeah, he's pretty much living off spaghetti.

Re: Money stuff

Depending on his age, there could be a number of options open to him in terms of short-term/long-term financial aid. No harm in looking into it. Connexions is a good place to start or if he's too old for that then the CAB or direct.gov

I fed a family of three on about a tenner a week for almost a year so it's not impossible to get by when you're out of work - just have to be very willing to go without a hell of a lot of stuff.

Re: Money stuff

Yup, he's FINSLLY got the money that Jobseekers owes him. I feel guilty because I might be getting this job but he needs it more :(

Re: Money stuff

Tip 1: Get a job.
Tip 2: Buy only sheap stuff.
Tip 3: Throw away all luxuries until he knows what he can easily afford, then use those, nothing more.
Tip 4: Put as much money as possible in the bank.

JobSeekers is bullcrap. They made me go on it when I was 6 months pregnant with my first kid because apparently lots of people would want to employ a heavily-pregnant homeless girl for approximately 6 weeks

Don't feel guilty about your job situation though - you gotta take work where you can get it and I think anyone would understand given our current climate. He should look into any tax reliefs he may be entitled to, grants, funds...take advantage of the system because the money is there and it'll only be taken by people who don't even live here 90% of the time or are busy scamming the benefits system or council or both...

Yes.

Ask Obama a serious/funny question, then rake in the cash as people in the US laugh at you and give you money for no reason at all. Cha-ching!

Re: Money stuff

Yeah... he can get housing benefit. But he doesn't have a house. Oh, I love our system.

Re: Money stuff

In case you haven't figured Urahara, I don;t like you, and I don't plan to listen to much that you say. I always call it England. I'm not British, because I'm not part scottish, irish or welsh. I'm english.
So in other words, gtfo.

Living on a boat...would that make him exempt from things like council tax, do you know?

Re: Money stuff

Yup, know all that. It's pretty good actually, you save a lot on utility bills

Re: Money stuff

Why am I not surprised that you'd drink canal water?

Re: Money stuff

I can get away with what? Living on a boat? God, you don't even make sense. Go away so I can talk to people who actually have something interesting or helpful to say.

Re: Money stuff

You cleary mistook the message, fool. I mean't that you can get away with calling me an asstard, you ****tard.

Now imma do the sensible thing and ignore you. If you don't like it, then get a dildo and shove it up your ***.

Re: Money stuff

As I've said in both your profiles - if you can't get on, make use of the ignore function.

Less of the fighting and more proper posting, ta.

Back on topic: has your boyfriend ever had a community care grant (or whatever the hell they are called these days)?

Re: Money stuff

She is ignored.

On topic: If your bf can't get a job, then send him back to college where maybe, just maybe, he could get a degree and work for a McDonalds.
