Multiplayer Camera?

What do you want the screen to look like in multiplayer in Fable 3? Do you want one camera viewing all the heroes where neither of you are able to control the camera or splitscreen where all of you can control your own individual cameras or other (please state)?

Re: Multiplayer Camera?

I would like to see splitscreen, One hero could be buying clothing, while another is fighting off a army of balverines, Split screen RPG's have worked. As a example Phantasy Star Online for the gamecube had a good splitscreen RPG system while one person could be in a shop, another could be doing quests.

Re: Multiplayer Camera?

It should be split screen for "couch co-op" and online each player should be able to control their own camera. And no damn henchmen! Each player should be able to be their own hero. Instead of having to to always be on the same screen, there should just be a set distance (and the distance should be fairly wide) as to how far away each player can be from the other.

And an arena where players can fight each other would be awesome. It should be like the crucible where you can pic what terrain you want to fight in, or just fight in an empty arena. Potions disabled, losses don't scar.

One more thing, villagers should not be able to go into your house unless you have told them to follow you. Their really annoying.

Speaking of villagers, I want a option so you can shut up there dialog. I kinda don't like going everywhere and having them screaming or having them tell you how much they love you.

On Topic:

Arena for Player VS. Player would be awesome, but they would have to balance out the combat system for that to work. You can't just run in with a daichi and start swinging away for a 1hit kill.

Re: Multiplayer Camera?

Definitely need splitscreen for couch, and no one-screen for online, either. It was basically unplayable on the couch, and only a little better online. At least let us get a little further apart and make it so we have our own views-- none of the "hey, what's the tiny antlike figure doing over there with that gun when I'm over here with my ax?" deal we had to put up with.

Re: Multiplayer Camera?

Personally, I think it should be splitscreen as well. Having a single camera view is very annoying because it can be difficult to know where you are, you look insignificant (and you can't help it) which really isn't RPG-like and you are limited to where you can go. Besides, I like the ability to control my camera. And I also agree with the PvP thing; I think you should have an option where you are able to fight another player (if you both want to) whether on the spot or in an arena and afterwards, your stats are put back to how they were (no scarring as TJ Griffin said). So, I'd say that the Fable 3 multiplayer screen should be splitscreen.

Re: Multiplayer Camera?

the camera should not go to split screen at all. fable just isn't a split screen game :(
for online co-op, people should be able to move about the region freely with their own camera
for couch co-op it should stay the same camera.

Re: Multiplayer Camera?

But then the player would would be unable to control his/her own camera and so it would hardly be their own, would it? Besides, why is Fable 'just not a split screen game'? What makes one game more 'split screen' than another?

Re: Multiplayer Camera?

Fable II co-op was a good idea, but it was implemented awkwardly. It's similar to the San Andreas co-op camera if I remember San Andreas co-op properly. It's irritating that you both have to be in the same place at the same time and not stray from each other. I'd rather it let you wonder off and do your own thing, but still in multiplayer mode. System link, although a lot of hassle, (it would result in needing two 360s and two televisions in one room or house) would be nice if your friend doesn't mind bringing their Xbox over with them. Split screen is easier to play with, you get your own freedom.

I can (kinda) see your point, but why would you inflict that on, say, me and my sister if we want to play together? You let people online get their own camera, but my sister and I have to be duct-taped together? Look, she has pretty bad BO. Why would you do that to me?

Seriously, if it's a pain in the ass to play that way online and so you get rid of it, why leave it there for couch?

A: because i like watching you squirm from her awful stench

B: sharing the TV screen is inevitable in couch co-op, and i personally prefer shared camera to split screen. Another alternative...used in War of the monsters for PS2...the game is split screen, but when both players are near eachother the camera seamlessly goes to a single screen.

C: people online each have their own TV, and so there is no reason they should have to share the camera. let them roam freely within a region and give the leader the ability to switch regions.

Inevitable? How come? And wouldn't the screen changing every time a character gets too far or close to another be as distracting as a single camera would be limiting to both heroes (in the opinion of the majority of people)?

Agreed; I see no reason why online co-operative play would require a single chracater viewing both heroes.

because two people sitting next to each other playing couch co-op are gonna be looking at one screen regardless of how many times it's split up.

Re: Multiplayer Camera?

Oh, then I must have misunderstood. Of course they're going to be sharing the screen, but not neccessarily sharing the camera.
