Re: my wishlist and ideas

i dont think that our ideas are completely worthless to the developers and i think that it is a very bad desicion to ignore the consumer but it is also a bad idea to put too much weight in the opinions of the players. the consumer has more power than you may realize after all we decide if the game is a sucess or not.

  • i would only add just a few more things. like very realistic muskets with powder, rod, and lead balls and the ability to just set up a camp anywhere in the wilderness during your travels, whether it be for individual use or for large warrior/hunter camps. i would love for there to be ride-able horses that you could fight on and for many of the townsfolk to trot down the streets of bowerstone on. i really liked the idea of having armed followers by your side and i really liked the idea of training and fighting with your sons.

The use of various tools would be cool, for either specific functions or just haveing fun. Like a set of lockpicks for doors and chests or a rope to use to climb or could use to swing from places. Or even find a collection of ninja tools and live your dream of being a silent, shadow-walking assassin.

I would like for the game to go deeper, much much deeper. Fable has SO much potential to be one the of the greatest RPG's of this century and with Lionhead Studios backing it, its not an entirely unreachable concept.

If Lionhead drives deeper into the story of your hero, as well as add a vast array of intricacy concerning the weapons/armor/abilites I will garauntee that this game is a massive success.

I think one thing that would be interesting is sort of changing your appearance totally, even if you're a evil dude (a wolf in sheeps clothing).

What about cursed weapons like a sword that moves around on it's own or a helmet that grows flowers out of the top. Armor that changes color or pants that fall down all the time. I'm talking pure comedic value rather than the irritation of having a crappy weapon that you can't let go of.

Re: my wishlist and ideas

damn the stick.

We all want to set up camp....

Set up a toll for anyone who passes?

make your own damn town....

As i said many, many towns. Start my own kingdom and wage war against Bowerstone! sitting on a horse or leading my soldiers on foot with my trusty dog.
no strategy has to be involved. just a straight attack

After playing KOTOR II for awhile, I myself find myself looking forward to tons of dialogue choices, another way for the good/evil game element to be better put into use. Molyneux actually said something of the sort in his last interview I believe...

Yeah, I'd say more dialog interaction choices coulw be better. Maybe something a bit more like KOTOR's. I always felt that the Expressions were really unwieldy.

No dialouge, the hero is better silent. I don't want him yapping when he could be killing villains or saving damsels. The little moans or words he spouts during emotions are good enough.

yeah... he said that that kind of dialogue was exactly what he didn't want in his games cause he thought it brings you out of the experience...
Peter Molyneux said:
now for me, the more I have to read, and the more I have to sit down and wait for something, the less impactful it actually is. You know, I think a lot of people mistake a lot of dialogue for good story. A lot of people mistake, you know, you’ve seen it in lots of games: “Do you want the main character to say: Hello-my-name-is-blah-and-I-am-a-very-nice-person-will-you-come-with-me-to-go-to-Beechwood-and-we-will-have-a-good-time.” When actually what you want to say is, come with me. Yeah. So the more you put words into the hero’s mouth, the less he feels like my hero. So if we restrict his vocabulary through these expressions, he actually feels more like me, and less like someone that’s been given to me. That’s my theory.

Good point. But that doesn't alter the fact that the expressions ARE unwieldy. Except for the four that you can assign to the D-pad, on the XBox version you have to go through all the menus to find what you want. By the time you get there the person you wanted to say it to is gone.

I for one hated the expression system... I thought it was weird and awkward and it takes me out of the experience to not be able to even once have a conversation with anyone... I prefer Bioware's method of dialogue...
I was merely saying that Peter Molyneux has unequivocably stated that he doesn't like dialogue and will continue to use the expressions...

Re: my wishlist and ideas

Well, a way to help the problem is have the NPCs more reactive to your movements. Like have them actually talk about something when you give them your attention or have them actually come into contact of your hero without the need for expressions.

Say your at the tavern, your a champion of the people and praised by all. When you enter your greeted by every single person in that tavern and there is even someone who comes up to you and hands you some beer or ale. You go to a stool at the table and there is an action to sit, you do so. Someone next to you will talk to you about how much the cheer for you or how they are your biggest fan. Just fun things like that which make just standing around doing nothing more fun and interesting. Not to mention you got free booze.

Re: my wishlist and ideas

Glad you agree with me, Hex.

But, Seigfreid, there is one problem with that. Having them even more intrusive could be worse than them cheering at you (or running in terror) all the time.

That also doesn't eliminate the problem of it being difficult to "say" things to them. It would, however, make things a bit clearer. I, for one, could never figure out how much effect I was having on women with my repeated "manly arm pump"s, "sexy hero pose"s and "flirt"s. Or the effectr I had on anyone else with other things I did.

Re: my wishlist and ideas

NPCs have different fighting styles.

Say, Mercenary 1 attacks more, Mercenary 2 defends more , Mercenary 3 is fast but does ninja-like moves while Mercenary 4 hurts like hell but is slow
