New website ideas.

Hallo there!

Predicament: I want a new website. Yes, another one. This will technically be my fourth in total (or the fifth if you include the one I bought for Angel). My problem is that I am absolutely stumped as to what it can be about, which obviously doesn't help all that much.

Let's say YOU were about to treat yourself to a sexy new website; what would it be about? I'll award positive rep to everyone who contributes to this thread and I'll even give away a silver subscription to the person who coins the idea for my next website.

But just to make things crystal clear - this is meant to be a fun exercise; not a chore. I'm aware that there are a billion-gazillion topics a website could be based around and I haven't given away hints as to the kind of thing I'm interested in but I'm more curious as to what kind of subject you guys would base your website around. You will just happen to be rewarded if you just so happen to come up with a good idea.

So... yeah. Let's get brainstorming!

I would like to see a site (This week in Gaming) twigaming.com, a gaming news site that talks about all the gaming news of the week. Similar to twit.tv (This week in technology)
I see it focusing not only on the games but in depth discussions about the technology behind them.

I whould like to see a site made for the Total War games. A site that all the TW fans can go and talk about,help people, and maby put game saves on about the TW games. And with the NEW Medieval II TW jut out people will be looking for help and with X-mas around the corner people will come like wildfire to the site.

How about A fantasy based site that talks about RPGS in general like RPGCentral.com/net

that talks about all the new rpgs and mmorpgs..

or same thing except with FPS

Idea #1

I think something like lionhead news, not just Fable but all the lionhead games. It could be an info site, w/ hints and tips and cheats. You could post reviews and user feedback.

Idea #2

Projectego.net store. You could sell merchandise and subscriptions to projectego.net. Things like stickers, shirts, hats, anything to increase awareness or hype, and bring in maybe a little money on the side. A suggestion would be to add a bronze membership w/ limited access but higher than a normal member.

I Also think that this is a great idea just make square enix site. That would because of FF XII is out and its one of my all time fav games. And the comuinity for RPGs is huge that whould easly become a top site with some work. And with KH 2+ and KH3 on the way its a sure win.

I must say however that I REALLY (note the emphasis on REALLY) like the RPG based site ideas from both 1Ak and Fable_Fan005. I'm just going to do a bit of research into potential competitors before I hit the sack as I find it's always a good idea to see just what you're up against before you dive right into the deep end...

When I wake up tomorrow we could discuss a few possible domain names, or something. However this is not final; remember, we're still toying with ideas!

Also, fablefreak1; I really like your first idea of a Lionhead Studios fansite covering all of their games. Believe it or not though - your second suggestion sounds almost identical to what me and Angel have been discussing this past week. Like your suggestion - we were considering integrating a store, as well as possibly introducing another premium membership group (however it would have been something along the lines of 'Lifetime Supporter' or something.) Liking the sound of a store too; would be difficult to organise but certainly sounds interesting. You are my new favourite member of the day. After myself.

Again, I'm really, REALLY (see, see? There goes that emphasis again...) liking the ideas so far, guys! I'm really looking forward to launching a new site and further adding to our cosy little network we have here so please be sure to keep the ideas coming. I really appreciate it and would love all the help I can get should any of you be interested in staff positions.

Has to be said one more time - excellent ideas guys; I've donated rep to everyone in this thread so far. I can't wait to continue discussing this tomorrow.

A fansite for almost any of Bioware's games would be wicked as far as I'm concerned...
KotOR and KotOR II, Jade Empire and the upcoming Jade Empire II, the upcoming Mass Effect, among others... all totally immersive and beautiful rpgs with really expansive story lines, all with huge fanbases to tap into...

that or ReBoot... hehehe... ReBoot is so totally great...

I would actually like to see a sight that was dedicated to the expansion of new game ideas. This idea is just that, an idea. There would be a lot of moving parts to consider. First of all endorsements from a few game companies that are looking for fresh ideas, I can’t stress enough how important a good relationship with these companies would be to the concept. Secondly you would need to build the site with a way to track time date stamps on ideas that your forum readers are going to propose and listen to. Also during the signup for a forum member there will need to be general information about copyright laws available.

Now the site would be intended to draw bright minds with good concepts into an area where they can have one on one contact with the companies looking for bright minds using the site as a mediator. I believe that there is much raw unutilized talent in the world and this would be one step closer to helping those bright people attain their goals and helping the companies produce greater games for the entire entertainment industry.

Before you start thinking that this would be some type of good will site lets talk about profits. Writers and companies would both be willing to shell out a decent amount of money for a site that could provide idea security and contract bargaining without the use of expensive lawyers. This would also mean that you would have to hire on consultants that know copy write and contract law, but with a good crew and the contacts that you have already made through your other web sites this would truly be your only missing element. Hope this helps.
