No Respect

This is a rant. If your not interested in it then go do something else, I wont hold anything against you. If your still sticking around, mabey you might find it entertaining.

Once upon a time, in a magical far off place called "Super happy go lucky fun la la land" there was a peaceful village where everyone had a few shreds of common courtesy. This village was attacked by raiders that raped, tourchered and killed all the villagers and burt their village to the ground. There where no survivers and soon, and remnants of the village where gone, and nobody alive knew it ever existed. This is a fictional story, a story written in a book. A book of which all copies where either burned or torn up and used as toilet paper.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, my uncle moved back from Vegas with his kids. They moved in about 2 miles from my place, which is nice because now I can drop whatever I'm doing and chauffeur his kids around to wherever they want while he gets drunk. And babysit them just about every day. :)

Or at least thats the way it was, now he is moving back to Vegas because he can't find work here. :w00t:

Oh wait, hes leaving his kids here. :getlost:

So now I get to deal with two poorly parented kids round the clock for god knows how long. These kids are 13 and 15, and obsessed with smoking. Because its "cool". Their not my kids, and their dad lets them smoke, and so does their mom when their with her. So I honestly don't care, only now they wont stop pestering me to buy them smokes. They better get used to cold turkey because that isnt happening.

So anyway, theyve moved in, and made themselves quite at home. They act like they own the place, never ask to use any of my things, rummage through my stuff and never feel like the day is complete unless theyve broken something. The 13 year old really likes CoD4, so I let him play online ON MY ACCOUNT. Thats quite generous, is it not? I won't allow him to use the headset, because he can't stop himself from using the word "nigga" in every sentence when he is killed, gets a kill, or is told to STFU. So he plays CoD4 all day, dragging my profile through the mud along with him. I am greated to my xbox with messages from stangers telling me to "go back to halo". When I tell him to get off the xbox I'm being "rude" or "treating him like ****".

He mouths off to me when I tell him to respect my account, but I have to be nice to him anyway. If I yell at him or try to talk to him like a reasonable person he just laughs. Neither of them respect any of the house rules, or any sort of athority. The 15 year old dresses like a slut, smokes like a chimmeny, and isn't afraid to spend other peoples money. Oh and of course as you might remember, she infected my computer with quite a bit of spyware.

Oh, and lets not forget about their pets. Next to my bed I have 4 snakes. My pet snake, and his 3. And lets not forget about their yappy little p*** factory chuwawa. I hope my dog eats it. I actually feel sorry for the poor thing, it sleeps with me rather than them every chance it gets. They have cats too, but they can't come over here. On the upside I don't have to put up with cats, the downside is I have to go over there every day to tend to them.

I could go on, but this is getting quite lengthy so I'll stop. Needless to say, I think it would be a good investment on my part to get the 13 year old an xbox live account, just so he will stay the hell off mine. I could make rules, or try to dissipline them, but it doenst work. I could put a password on the xbox and computer, but that would just make them mad. When their happy they have no respect for my things, I wouldnt want to anger the little brats.

Anyway they can't get out of here soon enough. And when they leave I hope the door doesnt hit them on the arse on they way out. Knowing them it would just fall off its hinges. I'm done trying to parent them (apperently their father gave up quite a while ago) at this point I just want to occupy them and keep them the hell away from my things.

Thank all that is good and holy school starts tommorow. I might actually get some decent sleep! That is, if they even go.

Edit: I have to give the 13 year old some credit, hes an ok kid. He ticks me off from time to time but I mostly enjoy hanging out with him. Its when you throw his sister into the mix that everything blows up in your face. Without her antagonism he is quite tollerable. Their still both brats though.

Props to you. Far too many people in this world would just buy them the poison to make 'em shut up. Oh yeah - why can't you dump the brats on their mom?

That would require me springing for a plane ticket. Hopefully her new husband is coming down to pick them up. There has been talk about it.

The only way I can get them to shut up about the smokes is to tell them "mabey". Its not happening, but it shuts them up for a little while. The funny thing is, if I tell them "no", they actually ask (in that whiney brat tone) "why".

Re: No Respect

The biggest one isnt quite big enough I'm afraid.

My snake is a baby corn snake, its as thin as a pencil and only a foot long at the most. Two of his are garter snakes, they are fully grown but rather small, only about 2 feet. The third is a bull snake, its the biggest, about 3 1/2 feet, but that wont cut it for a 4 pound "dog". Its a large rat if you ask me. A large, annoying, loud, barking rat. Or 4 legged football if you prefer.

Re: No Respect

Man, you are a little too nice. But then again, you aren't their parent, so there isn't much you can do. Kids like that really tick me off. Especially the ones who say "nigga" nonstop on Call of Duty when they try to sound older by deepening their voice. Those are the kind who shouldn't play Live. And you should make them do stuff before they get to do anything. And yes, put a password so they can't just work around that.

Not much else I can help with. Just don't give in and buy them smokes.

Re: No Respect

i would use cigarettes as a motivating factor to make them behave. "not gonna feed your cats? gonna make your cuz do it again? it's gonna be a lonely night with no marlboros!"

if they smoke as much as you say they do, they probably run through a pack in 1-2 days so that should keep them in line at lease 3-4 days of the week. if they bitch

"oh i'm sorry, did i accidently put a password on my xbox live account?"
"my bad, my friend just borrowed CoD4"
"now how did your snakes find their way into the microwave?"

It may sound cruel, but the key to making kids respect you is psychological manipulation. if they don't see any benefit in following the rules of the house, they won't.

Re: No Respect

Y'know, you can make a month account for the kid without paying a dollar? You're too good a person to deal with them. If you tried asserting your authority on the 15 year old by telling her where her place is or doing something of the same degree and it works, the 13 year old will follow suit.

Re: No Respect

I'm just going to say: You can't discipline these kids and be friends with them at the same time.

There is no middle ground in this kind of situation, it's either one extreme or the other.

Re: No Respect

You could reward them for behaving well? Such as getting the free account for the 13 year old (leave out the fact that it's free) and maybe nicotine gum or something for the other one? I don't know them so I don't know what they'd consider a "reward."

Re: No Respect

I have a brilliant idea. Show them pictures of lungs that have had prolonged exposure to tar from ciggarettes and that may get them to stop trying to force you to buy smokes.

Or you could send them to military school.

Re: No Respect

Indeed. They are addictive and no sort of 'intimidation' will work. Starving them out, however, will most likely have some effect... after a while. Keep up the refusal to buy it for them, I say!
