O rly? :sly: Do tell. The only particularly retarded things I've heard of regarding Australia's government have to do with being incredibly anal about video games.

Just youtubing Julia Gillard or Tony Abbott (our Prime Minister and Opposition Leader, respectively) will reveal to you a vast hole full of idiocy and contradiction. This caught my eye a few days ago.

She labels Julian Assange's actions regarding Wikileaks illegal, despite not being able to identify any specific laws, and when questioned about it, she just contradicts herself.

She keeps backflipping her views/promises. She said she wouldn't challenge Kevin Rudd's Prime Ministership, and a few days later, she did that. During the election campaign, she famously stated, "There will be no Carbon Tax under my government" A few months later, she's trying to weasel her way out of that. It's not so much that she lies/breaks promises, but at least someone like Obama is charismatic enough to pull it off.

And Tony Abbott is just as lacking in personality as Julia, but he's a crazed Christian soldier who would just drag us back kicking and screaming to the 1950s. I don't care how ****ing good he is at economics, I'm not going to elect someone who is going to govern via their faith into power.

I don't necessarily like to see fighting like that, but it's good to see people standing up for what they believe in.
