Opinions?

Alrighty. There are 3 1991-'93 Fender Stratocasters (HRR) with Original Floyd Roses around the area I live in. They are Japan made but with American Electronics and parts. (they also have a dimarzio humbucker and 2 default single coils.)

Now, the cheapest is around 450, with some heavy damage in the finish, and the most expensive is 650.

The 450 is in a sunburst, my favorite for Strats, the 550 is in red, while the 650 is in alpine white.

Now, the 450 is my favorite so far, and the 550 is the least favorite. I hate red.

Now, this is a steal right? Seeing as all I ever see on craigslist is "GIBSON GUITAR 150!" that are actually Epiphones, and same thing with Fender/Squier.

So, I need you guys to help me decide if I should buy it or not? 450 sounds quite fishy, seeing as American Strats are usually in the thousands. But this is Japanese made, so I'm not sure. Is the Japanese made ones worse than Mexican Strats?

The gashes in the finish don't look too bad... It kind of gives it that "road worn" look.

I do like a road worn guitar so I'm gonna have to say the 450. But like u said the prices do seem a bit low so I wud check it out a bit more before u rush in and just buy one.

I love the white one. The only let down is the humbucker. If you really want a humbucker, I'd recommend a stacked humbucker (looks like a single coil, and sounds somewhere inbetween). I'm not too keen on the Floyd rose either, but you're the one who knows what you want. I'm just a purist when it comes to fenders. Are they identical?

I'm fairly confident that the Mexican Strats are better than the Japanese ones. I think the Mexican ones are actually the most comparable to the proper american ones out of everything. Personally, I'd just be happy with having "Fender" written on it. All I've got is a broken down squier.

And trust me, you don't want to buy a guitar just because it looks road worn, it miht look like a veteran, but sometimes veterans come home missing legs. (I'm trying to say that you shouldn't buy the most beat up looking guitar unless you're willing to do a bit of fixing up). You can't trust people to advertise an item's exact condition, they want to sell it, after all.

It lowers the strings (it's lightly raised, and the strings go under it) to make sure they don't slip out of the nut.

I just don't like side by side humbucker on a Fender. It ruins it's look, if you ask me.

They're stillmade by the official company, so they're not fake. They're just mass produced in japan (assembly line, etc) whereas the proper ones In America they're hand made

Oh okay that make sense, still, I consider them fake, they are still incomparable to the American ones and are mass produced. These are my opinions, no need to argue otherwise to me.

Japanese ones still beat my Squier though :(

I have a squire, it's not bad, although, my gibson kicks it's @ss, simply because squires are cheapened versions of a great guitar and not the ideally "real" fender guitar. that and it has custom pickups, tuning heads, and is paired with a perfectly good marshall half stack that I proudly only paid $200 for.^_^ I never pay full price for anything, not even from an official dealer. I always look for the one with the bump or the crack.

Yeah, but anything with "Fender" written on it (ignoring the fact that Squier's also have "Fender" written on them) will be better than a Squier, if only for the fact that it's genuine.

And what Marshall do you have? I'm in the market for a new amp....

It's is the same thing really with a different look and a storage function, couldn't find mine anywhere.

But if you look on craigslist for the same or the older version than you could find a cheap one. my version is simply titled:
MG100HFX

Despite some reviews, it's a great amp, and turning mine up to 5 shakes my windows violently.

Hmm. Instead of a new guitar, I might just buy some pedals, or maybe put some EMG's in my LP?

I know Arse will be against this (no offense Arse) as I'm defacing an LP, but what do you think Butts?

I'm thinking about a EMG 81-89/85 set, I kind of like the 89 because of the coil tap, which could come in handy. Or what other pickups are there that are feisty and have great sounding squeals, and are pretty clean too?

Or if I got a pedal what should I get? My amp's distortion is already pretty nice, but maybe for a booster, I should get a Ibanez Tube Screamer? Or maybe a Wah Wah and a foot pedal, because I'm in the process of learning every Dethklok song...

Did that come with a cab? That's pretty good, either way.

I really don't care all that much about modifying a Les Paul. I'm really only a purist when it comes to Fenders.

I'd go for a good wah pedal.

I don't know if it's too late but personally I love sunburst guitars. I just think the 650 looks nicer and seems a little more trusty..

Yes, the emg's say Zakk Wylde custom in the title, but it's actually just that pickups only with Zakk Wylde singed signature on them but they're cheaper cause they're a set.

Wait a minute, Brendon uses 81/89 in his Explorer, but I have no idea about his Robot LP and others.

Custom Pickups?

I think I might get a Vox Tonelab, pretty cheap, and I could hook it up with my amp and computer and start recording, with garageband or something, right?

I've only got around 200 bucks, so I have to decide :(

EDIT: Oh, James, do you have any Dethklok tabs? All of them got deleted off of ultimate-guitar.
