Yeah mine did the same, though it also took like 3 hours to load games! Damn Disk read errors!

you should see it play games with scratches. My Final Fantasy X2 game has this realllly bad scratch and it happens to be on a mandatory cut scene (the pretty FMV's) So when this cut scene plays it skips and at one point it just...stopped playing. I left my PS2 on all night to see if it could get past the scratch..NOPE..I tried a bunch of treatments of Toothpaste, it eventually got past it, after...a painstakingly 16 hours.

Well its about the PS2 and PS3 so yeah it does, plus thats for me to decide.

Mine did it with brand new games, right out of the packet though. Christmas day was a nightmare until i got my Slimline one!

Going back to the issue of backwards compatibility, is there any more info on whether the PS3 will be able to play PSone games? Like, the really old ones?
