Sir, I have a question.

Legal Age to Smoke - 18
Legal Age to Drink - 21

... What?

So, when you're Eighteen years old you can join the Military and before your Nineteenth Birthday you could be overseas blowing peoples heads off, ... but you can't have a beer until you're 21... I don't understand. I thought they said smoking was worse than drinking anyways, because of the whole "second hand smoking kills just as fast as first hand." thing so...

Can someone please explain to me how these laws were passed?

Who took a nap or a line of crack before writing these laws up........

I'm blaming Cheez..

it was fully and completely my idea for a number of reasons. alcoholism is no small matter. other communist countries such as mexico, canada, the united kingdom, spain, france, italy, and everywhere inbetween (other than us) have tried to make you think that smoking is unhealthy and that drinking is healthier with their communist propaganda. i'm here to clear up any misconceptions.

Smoking IS good for you

Cigarettes are Good for You

Nicotine and it's bonuses for Attention Deficite Hyperactive Disorder

Even the CEO's know that nicotine being addictive was invented by the alcohol companies so that people would choose the death trap that is alcohol over the harmless fun that is cigarettes.

just how harmful alcoholism can be.

my friends mother was a raging alcoholic. she was violent, stole from him, made death threats, and was overall a pretty bad mom. i smoked cigarettes and i was a much better mom to him than she ever was.

Re: Sir, I have a question.

You see this is what I love about living in England, I'm 18 and with a quick show of My ID I can buy all the booze I want. Ahhh, how I love to see the look on the stuck up cashier's face's when I thrust My ID into it haha.

We should all move to Antarctica, where everything's legal!

Re: Sir, I have a question.

I've never really seen the big deal of alchohol, in England we can drink in pubs at 16 (provided it is accompanied by a meal) and there is little stopping ANYONE (regardless of age) here from drinking in their own house.

It's the same with smoking, if 14, 15 years olds are smoking in the street here, they rarely get told off. It's the buying that is troublesome, but then again, fake IDs are increasingly easy to get.

And also, I'd say alchohol is more destructive than smoking.

Re: Sir, I have a question.

In my country, you can drink anything from 17 and if you know anyone in the bar, you can drink from your 14. You can drive from 18 and you can be a soldier from your 18 or you are forced to make your military service for 12 months if you are a guy, if you are a girl you have to help in various, things for 12 months of course.

Re: Sir, I have a question.

In Australia, it's not technically illegal for a minor to smoke or drink. Only buying alcohol and cigarettes. Even if they get caught, it's the shop that get's in trouble, not them.

But all in all, I'm glad the government makes huge tax money from things that kill the people.

Stop. In the states, anyone with a military ID may purchase alcohol regardless of age.
