I haven't gotten it yet. Partly because I'm broke.

But everyone is raving about how it's the best Halo ever.
By everyone I mean IGN and CNN.

To those who do have it, what do you say to this?
Is it going to give the realistic shooters something new to contend with?

It still has something that lots of the popular shooters do not and this is a great co-op mode. Ive heard really good things about it but dont have it myself yet as ive been banned from buying any games from now until Christmas, apparently im hard to buy for and thats all people know to get me. Ive heard it mixes some of the best bits from multiple Halo's so feels the most complete package, it would merely be opinion on if its the best ever however.

Fair point. I'm just surprised that I haven't heard anyone cry out or disagree with the statement.

With a franchise that has as many fanboys as Halo, you would think to see a lot of raging if anyone dared to make that statement, but nobody really seems to be up in arms about it. It's possible that I just want the game and am dying to hear some people comprehensively discuss positives/negatives.

Dammit Yahtzee, where are you?!

took a while to get use too, but i love infinity slayer.

the only thing that sucks is firefight is gone for some reason and you have to unlock emblems
wheres the logic in that?

Firefight is gone? What the derp, 343. Firefight was, like, the best thing about ODST and Reach.

I hear the Spec Ops mode replacement is a bit pants.

Spartan Ops is quite good, especially since it will be episodic. It's been a while since someone tried something new for multiplayer and a story-driven multiplayer experience might be a good idea, especially since it's episodic.

My friends said the same thing when I asked, they said Firefight got rather stale when you played with the same people as you all learnt the best spots and could utilise them to win all the time. This time you have objectives to hit and have to think on the move and adapt to each scenario differently.

He was 343's explanation as to why they dropped it...

343's Sparkast Explains the Lack of Firefight in Halo 4
I like the story element of spartan ops but it lacks customization that fire fight brought. I cant play gruntpocalypse in spartan ops, and that ****ing sucks.

And i cant watch my spartan ops OR campaign games in theater mode.... WTF

The magnet system in forge is long over do but thank god its there now.

343 mentioned that Theater mode could be added for those game modes at a later date.

Future Halo 4 updates may add clans, Theater Mode support

IMO: Good game, but nothing new, same old, same old halo experience, not bad, but just the same. and as for multiplayer, you have to have online, even to use the Episodes thing, which is stupid..

I dunno... it all looks very mediocre, and the campaign is apparently depressingly short. Probably skipping this.

I got it a few hours ago. I haven't tried multiplayer yet since campaign must be tackled first. It's the law. Halo tradition. No XBL party chat either. Solitude. Co-op can wait. Call me weird, but I've nerded over the story of Halo since the beginning. Since then, there are two things that I've been dying to see:
1. Other spartans - saw them in Reach, but that was a prequel. I wonder if there will be more in this game or later ones...?
2. The forerunners - these guys built the giant halo rings in outer space. Here's their logic: they see the flood, a huge threat to all organic life, and their solution is to imprison them, strap a big-bang-scale bomb to the prison, leave the care of said prison and bomb to sentient machines, then disappear. You just KNOW there's some **** waiting to go down where these guys are concerned. Within the first 15 minutes of Halo 4 and in every trailer, you know you're on a forerunner planet. The question is, will they be there too?

Below: rant about Halo campaigns in Combat Evolved, 2, and 3. Highlight to see.

No offense to any fans, but the covenant storyline in H2 post-introducing the Arbiter was lame. It was not riveting. Halo 2 was not riveting until it was ending with an attack on earth, then Halo 3 somehow managed to take the mother of all cliffhangers and deliver an unmemorable ****-poor excuse for a trilogy closer. As far as I'm concerned, Halo: CE was the ONLY good campaign in the original trilogy mainly because it said so much without even really using dialogue. You were marooned. You had NO idea if any of your exploits on the original halo ring would amount to anything. More likely than anything, you would wind up being an unsung hero who perished in the far-off reaches of space. Literally the last thing you had to live for was to discover what halo was. And man. Man. Just look at that thing! It was artificial, it must have been created for a purpose. Okay, okay. I'm stopping the rant. This is one of my rare passionate posts so LET ME SPLURGE DAMMIT.

I just finished the 3rd mission and wow. Just wow. This is everything that Halo should have been since Halo 2 in terms of storytelling and level design. The graphics have literally blown my mind, that could be partly because I recently got a 1080p LCD monitor and I'm not used to 2012 graphics in this resolution yet. Either way, **** is ****ing pretty, yo.

Every mission so far has been uniquely enjoyable and memorable. Fingers crossed that the next 5 missions can keep it fresh. If they can, I will **** on Bungie studios and have 343i tattooed in pink across my anus.

I never really bother with Multiplayer on Halo since the original 2, I do play co-op but again its usually after ive done solo. Because you can be sure that the person you co-op with will probably have already done the story before & be telling you everything thats coming before it happens. Im glad the campaign sounds good, maybe some have said its short but sounds like an average Halo length to me & they have never been very long. So long as the campaign itself is well structured with some interesting levels & exciting I dont really mind.
