Spartacus seeks Vengeance Jan 27th

So the season finale happened, what are peoples thoughts on it? I thought it kicked ass personally and cant wait to see what next season brings.

However...(Spoilers) I cant believe how many characters they killed off in this episode.
Finished watching it last night finally, was very very good to be honest.

Spoiler: No kidding, I was surprised at all who were killed as well.. though I suspected Glaber would meet his end for sure. I knew Oenemaus was going to die unfortunately (accidentally found out when looking up the history of Spartacus), but I didn't know when.. sad that he did though, was one of my favorites. Heh, Ashur's was quite gruesome yet well deserved after everything he did... but no surprise that Illithyia of all people yet again escapes the clutches of death. I told you before, I had a bad feeling that she would be the one that got away and sure enough.

One thing that did caught my attention and I'm not sure if you might remember it, but it was the line Spartacus spoke before the death of Glaber.. "At last the Roman finally learns his place before me.... on his ****ing knees." The same exact line from Glaber at the beginning of Blood & Sand said to Spartacus when Spartacus had picked up his wife's cloth in the prison. Thought that was pretty well done.

Lucretia had an easy opportunity to kill Illithyia, not sure why she didn't take it.. I was badly expecting her to do it too.

Spoiler: Illithyia did die at the end, the director confirmed she bled to death after the episode had finished as people were confused as to if she died or not Lucretia cut her open to remove the child. Lucretia had planned the whole thing since Illithyia first stepped foot back into her house and manipulated herself closer to her again to perform the deed. She was robbed a child by Crixus and wanted one to take to Batiatus in the after life. Spartacus quoting Glaber was much like Glaber doing the 'Kill them all' quote in the second to last episode too. Was a shame about Oenemaus and I liked Mira too and im going to miss Ashur's character and Lucretia but neither of them have a place in season 3 with the high power characters that are coming in Caesar and Marcus Crassus.

Quote from Steven Deknight Spoiler: [That's] one thing I regret. If I could go back I would’ve possibly re-shot [her death scene], just so it was clear that she did, in fact, die. We had a couple of different cuts of it where we were tying her death directly, visually into Glaber’s death, which I think was a little clearer. Upon seeing the final product, I’m going to have to explain to people that no, she’s not passed out; she’s dead.

Spoiler: Ohh, okay. Wasn't very clear that she had died because it really looked like she had passed out or fainted at the shock of her newborn child and former best friend falling to their deaths right in front of her. So since that has been confirmed, you'll have to excuse me as now I must set forth the party arrangements.. this moment will not be forgotten.

Deknight had apparently planned Spoiler: to give her a gruesome death along side her husbands but they decided against it for whatever reason. Was unclear that she had died but he cleared it up quickly afterwards which is fine by me. Going to miss Viva, she played the role brilliantly, so many great characters taken out in 1 episode.

Spoiler:A shame it didn't happened, the kill scene for Glaber was pretty damn epic I must say. Oh well. Yes, so many good characters lost which leads to another issue that cheez had pointed out before on my profile.. there was a lack of some really stand out characters for Season 2 in comparison to Season 1. That being a good chunk of the really good ones from Season 1 being killed off and not many new (and interesting) ones being introduced in this season. Which has me a bit worried, with now everyone dead from the original barring Spartacus, Gannicus, and Crixus (did I miss anyone?), I hope that doesn't hurt Season 3... granted they can introduce a wave of new personalities, but still.

Spoiler: Yeah I can see what you mean, Varro, Batiatus, Aurelia,Tullius, Solonius,Gaia and Barca were all quite good characters who all eventually died. A lot of characters in Season 2 werent fully fleshed out and seemed be just be stepping stones to kick start other plots such as Seppia, Seppius and Varinius. Though some good ones were introduced also such as Saxa & Nasir who will likely come further into their own along with the obvious new characters that will be introduced in Season 3.
