I'm sure I'm not the only one who happens to miss the use of the spoiler tags and the media tags around here. Ever since we made the transition to Xenforo some of the things went missing, broken, or simply disabled.. mostly due to the software still being young and lacking some necessary basic features that have yet to be implemented from the XF developers.

The lack of spoiler tags I find to be a major nuisance. Not only are they useful for actual spoiler content, but they come in handy as a way to toggle other content (pictures, videos, lists, etc) and without them it results in people having to bare with unnecessary extra scrolling through that various content. The return of over-sized signatures is also a bit of a problem, there's already plenty of properly working Spoiler Tag plugins available for Xenforo.. so why hasn't this been fixed yet?

Here's one for example.
And the result.

Media tags, the plugin appears to already be in place and can be used, but for some reason appears to be broken (outdated version of the plugin perhaps?) and gives nothing but an invisible space where the video should be. I don't need to explain how inconvenient it is to have to link someone to a video that opens another tab/window, when they could just instead watch the video right there in the post without having to do anything else. This plugin has been unusable since the very first day we've been here, yet it works just fine over at the main XF community and other XF communities. Please fix this?

Please use the poll above and voice your opinions, hopefully enough feedback will yield some positive results.

Totally miss them. I cry myself to sleep each night they're gone, but I do have hope, that one day, I'll get over it. Oh, and that they'll come back too. You know, Because they will. Eventually. Right now, Please.

I miss the good Ol'Days, when everyone was my slave--I mean when the forum was a wonderful place..:shifty:..MWAHAHA

no really. I still miss the good ol' days but it would be nice to see the spoiler tags again, some peoples signatures need it...

I miss them too - I don't know if Steve's taken a fresh look at whether they are fully supported yet (there will always be plugins for cool stuff but not all are supported and XF isn't awesome at support even now, although I'm sure they're trying their best) but I'll still bug him over it if it helps. Also, I'm fairly sure on the REN forum you can watch videos there and then without going elsewhere...not sure for definite but I can take a look and if that is the case maybe I can fix it now. Or break the internet - whichever happens first.

That'll be a start if nothing else, right?

LOOK AT ME DOUBLE POSTING! OLOLOLOLOL!

Ok, so I have no idea why it works on REN but not here - the code is the same, the permissions are the same, the little boxes to tick are the same so I'm guessing perhaps something may need updating? If that's the case I am not touching it in case I die. When Steve gets back from wherever the hell he's gone off to I'll ask him to take a look and will also look at seeing if we can't get spoiler tags back, or at least give you guys a reason why we can't have them.

Had to. If I wasn't at school Id've photoshopped a balverine with the quote, ha.

I said those exact words in that image to Steve earlier...probably looked like that as I said them as well

Still hunting for the cause of the problem with the media tags and talking to myself in the test thread - will let you all know if and when it gets fixed..

I'm not saying that Xenforo is crap, I quite like it. I'm just saying that vBulletin had a lot of good features that aren't supported by Xenforo yet.
That is completely true, as long as people aren't going to complain and whine again over how vBulleting was supposedly so vastly superior. >_>

^this

Very rarely did I use the spoiler tags for actual spoilers.

This. If given the choice I'd go back to vBulletin in a heartbeat, but I'm not here to moan. Spoiler tags, yes please. Media tags? If they're not too much trouble. It's easy enough to click on a YouTube link, after all.

Hopefully Xenforo becomes are supported by the modding community and as open to them as vBulletin once was before the takeover. Many more people would warm to it then when it not only has new features over vBulletin but all the old ones people liked too. I like Xenforo, just needs some tweaks here and there and some features included to be great.

Well, I do miss vBulletin to a good degree, but yeah Xenforo is still young and has a way to go. I've checked and XF already has a flurry of nifty mods that would be great to have here, so hopefully Steve can get around to checking them out and give us some nice things.

I'm really bothered by some of Xenforo's concepts though, such as their idiotic idea of what a Moderator is (can only edit threads) and them feeling there is a lack of good reason to make Moderators more robust. One of the XF Devs actually suggested the alternative of "make your Moderators into Administrators". I found this ban plugin that could possibly serve as a useful upgrade to the basic spam cleaner ability.

Not sure if Steve might have found a fix for this as Mods on DMC.org had an issue of the Moderators having no powers at all but Kyle tells me he has all his powers now.

All his powers as in more than just the spam cleaner?
