Sushi

I hate the idea of seaweed, rice, vegetables and raw fish.

But oh my god is it delicious when put together. I could live off of the stuff and never tire of it.

In Bristol, not far from me, is a Japanese restaurant that does (or used to do) all you can eat for £20. They do sushi, tempura, teppanyaki and tings, only downside is going there and eating as much as you can kinda ****es off the staff. Only place I know where it's worth leaving a ten pound tip.

I hate it when they do that, if they're going to get stroppy because a customer wants to eat as much as they they like then they should have the offer as: 10 dishes per customer for £20 Instead, if they put: All you can eat out for £20 as the offer then you're always going to get some glutton coming in (most likely me) and clearing them out Adam Richman style, What do they think is going to happen? they can blame themselves lol.

Ok so I've discovered that Sainsbury's has finally started doing proper sushi in the sandwiches section instead of the crabstick garbage they had a while back, comes with fish sauce, wasabi and everything. I'm in my happy place guys.

Is it any good? I find supermarket sushi usually has hard and rice and not much flavour. That said Waitrose (I think) does weirdly good sushi.

It's not the best but it's pretty decent, trouble is as much as I like the seaweed based rolls the pieces with proper fish pieces on top of it are rarer you only get a few pieces compared to the rolls. Whether that's a good or bad thing depends on which kind of Sushi you prefer, better off getting the large packet for greater variety. Like I said though it comes with wasabi and fish sauce which gave it a good added flavour, tasted alright to me. It seems to sell pretty well too, went for some more the other day and it was all sold out, so they must be doing something right.

I'd say it's worth trying, if you want quick and accessible supermarket sushi, it's definitely better than crabsticks quality-wise.

I just wish it was more available, people would probably be a lot healthier if they ate sushi more often.
 
I always liked the sushi selection from Pret A Manger but as I'm neither rich nor living near London any more, it's kind of out of the question. I was tempted to make my own but...yeah, it'll never happen. I don't even bother cooking dinner most days so what on earth makes me think I'll ever branch out to do anything more complicated than tipping baked beans into a pan, I don't know...

First time I ever ate sushi was in Trafalgar Square, sitting on a giant lion and trying not to get attacked by pigeons which were being fed by stupid tourists who should know better. Of course, I naturally listened to my wiser and older sister on the subject of the wasabi stuff and ate the lot in one go. I was not happy.

Sushi is AMAZING!! I don't really understand why people don't like it as much. Sure, it's raw fish but it's pretty in a delicious style. It's food. Does it have to be cooked?
 
Ah! But therein lies the deception that most people use to avoid the delicacy... Sushi is not inherently raw seafood. In fact, there are a few proteins used in sushi that cannot be served raw (I try to explain this to all my friends that will not try sushi because they say it's raw). Sushi is merely used as a term to decribe how it's made and more specifically Nigiri, Maki, Inari and Sashimi. However, since not all lay people know the difference between the types, they lump them all together as "sushi" and fear it. It is my hope to get my friends to at least try the different sushi and then to make their decision.

For example- I've tried Spider Rolls. I don't like my food looking back at me...
