The Dark Knight Rises!

Ehh, Harley Quinn is better... Poison Ivy too.

My friends keep telling me it was a great movie and that Bane basically stole the show, they won't shut up about it. So I'll probably go see it sooner rather than later.

After all, when Heath Ledger was cast as Joker I thought it'd be a terrible miscast... I couldn't have been more wrong.

Yeah again I was too, Bane and Catwowan are great in it. I liked how Hathaway could switch between a seemingly innocent girl and then the catwoman feisty character in an instant. Some pretty kickass fighting moves too I have to say. Im glad they delved into Banes character more and didnt just use him as a brainless meathead who just smashes things. You have to concentrate when he speaks though in some parts as the accent he uses, the mask muffling his voice and making it so you cant read his lips make it hard to understand some of the things he says. I never liked Poison Ivy as a villian, as a character she was decent but as an adversary not so much.

Still don't feel right about Hathaway, but does Bane at least know how to speak Spanish in this film?

Well I never said I cared for her personality, but you're going to tell me you don't like Poison Ivy in that scrumdiddlyumptious outfit of hers?

He has more of an irish accent with a little hint of a Sean Connery sounding scottish twang, kind of strange at first but wierdly it works. Apparently the accent was inspired by undefeated Irish bare knuckle boxer Bartley Gorman who was known as The King of The Gypsies. Better than previous films where he just said Bane over and over. I think if Nolan had tried to include the character as he appears in the comic in this movie then I think he would have looked a little camp & joke like in comparision to the dark atmosphere of the movie. So changing him into a more sinister looking character rather than a comic tough guy in a wrestling mask made people want to take him more seriously.

The outfit is good but she just doesnt have the threatening edge I like.

TBH I dont think T.Hardys ever heard an Irish traveller speak, trust me doesnt sound like that lol. I found part of the dialogue hard to understand (not all but some), but I found it easier on my second viewing. I also didnt think A.H. was going to be good as catwoman, presently surprised, she's actually far better than most people thought she was going to be. BTW really want that mask of bane, looks awsome lol.

Fair 'nough.

Irish Bane? Well, I watched some more snippets of his performance on a loop, I have to admit.. it's rather intriguing (in a creepy sort of way). But it'll take some getting used to because I'm so used to the lucha-masked monster. Who by the way, is very intelligent.. not sure why he was given the brain of a pokemon in the Batman & Robin film.

My friend told me Bane also has this epic chant whenever he comes out, but couldn't describe it to me... so I'm just left imagining if it's anything spine-chilling like the Bill Goldberg chant.

Yeah that always got to me in that movie.

The got the looks right, but failed on the characterization.

Like they just googled "Bane" and judged him as a mindless brute because of the first image they saw.

Bane was never just a mindless brute. In fact, in the comics (depending on the universe), he's quite brilliant. People only think of him as brainless because of Batman Forever...

...or was it Batman & Robin? I don't remember.

I liked the Arkham version as well, but the Batman TAS rendition was also pretty faithful to the comics (and my personal favorite).

As a character I think he was great in the movie, maybe he didnt resemble the comic character very closely but I thought he was great none the less. Id always heard he was really smart but then like you said in Batman and Robin he was cast as a mindless brute and nothing more. He had some really good speechs in The Dark Knight Rises and the accent grew on me and ended up quite chilling.
