the esrb is a fail

they are planning to release new ratings that will give away spoilers, for example they are want to put quotes from the game on the back of the box for fallout 3 that have key things in the plot

The ratings systems and censorship boards have always been a 'fail'. :lol:

new fable ESRB possibility: "rated M for Alchohal use, violence, blood and gore, sexual content, moral delema and ability to kill your sister

Are you serious? Wow. Is there such thing as; just leave it the **** alone! I am sure their parents have said that to them many times.

Wow, just read the full article. Why the hell would they do that? Because of some whiny people who think games are bad? Honestly, people who do this should be lined up and sho... Nevermind. Too far. They should go in for mental help.

You know I'd be right beside you guys about 10 years ago. I hate censorship, but the rating system really helps as a parent. I'll still let my daughter play mature games depending on the actual content and why it got a mature rating. The rating does help though. Usually I will play it myself though and make the call.

The fact that this extended write up is going to be on ESRB website itself, it's not going to spoil anything for anyone other than parents who want to go read it. I doubt you surf the ESRB website regularly:lol:. I know I have never been there. I probably won't either, I prefer to play it and decide if my daughter can play it than rely on others opinion. I don't see much harm in it being an option though. Not all parents are gamers who will play it themselves :P

No offense, but if parents eased up on the "mindless consumer" angle and started researching the games they buy for their children(a simple Google search will reveal more than enough) the whole ESRB system would be even more pointless than it is today.

That would stop ruining things for everyone. Or are todays parents that...lazy? Stupid? I don't know.

the best web site I have seen as game reviewing for kids goes, is gamerdad. Very honest and good opinion

Well that's the great thing about being a gamer Dad myself, I am usually pretty up to date on anything coming out. I will rent a game and play it first if I think it might not be suitable for my daughter.

I dont get people who blame violence on games like columbine: (lol) there was a war going on, on that exact date the president dropped the msot bombs ever dropped in one day in the history of that war, the mainstream news was pumping negative info all the time, and still mostly is... yet it was Marilyn Manson and video games that made these kids kill people??!
