The Hobbit 2012

Looked cheesy until I heard Golum and that music at the end, CAN NOT WAIT! :w00t:

I feel as though it's somewhat problematic that I haven't seen any of the Lord of the Rings movies...

It shouldn't be a problem if they do it properly because it's a prequel of sorts - there shouldn't be endless references to the LOTR at all.

I for one cannot WAIT to see this. I might even let the moths out of Steve's wallet and see it at the cinema.

What, you thought I'd be paying? Don't be silly...

Oh I'm not saying it would be problematic for seeing this movie (though I would have assumed so), I'm just saying it's problematic in general. I feel like a proper nerd need to have at least basic knowledge of Lord of the Rings, and I don't.

The dwarves in The Hobbit always put Gimli to shame when it came to awesomeness.

Definitely looking forward to this. I'm not expecting the same tone as LotR, because thats not how Tolkien wrote the hobbit.

Ahhh...I sees. Well if it helps, I hadn't read any of the LOTR books before seeing the films and had no trouble keeping up. And I'm the IQ equivalent of a 1 watt bulb. If the nerd in you prevails, wiki LOTR for the gist and then promptly forget it all because the Hobbit, as White Knight has already said, is in a different tone. One of my favourite stories as a child and Smaug is just brilliant...they'd better not screw him up in the film.

I think they've got Benedict Cumberbatch voicing him and the Necromancer (Alias of Sauron). I enjoyed him in Sherlock, and I look forward to him in this. I think he'd make a good younger Sauron, though I have no idea about him playing Smaug. Apparently he's doing the movement for the dragon as well through motion capture.

I'd heard about who the actor would be and having only seen him in Sherlock and the biography drama of Stephen Hawkin's life before he became Unicron or whatever, it'll be interesting to see how he acts out the role of Smaug and lickle Sauron.

I think Martin Freeman is actually a good choice too, for Bilbo. Although I'll have to make sure I don't watch Ali G In Da House any time near to watching The Hobbit...could really mess with my brain...

Stephen Fry is in it, so now i have to see it

They've got Sylvester McCoy as a wizard as well. They've made some really nice choices when it comes to the actors, in my opinion.

I don't know. They ****ed me off so much.

Not very hyped, doubt I'll be seeing it at the cinema.

I think I might miss the oldschool cheesy cartoons though.

*sings 'Where there's a whip *whipcrack* theeeeere's a way!'*

Not ashamed to say I'm rather looking forward to this. Read the book 3 times.

I'm fairly certain it will be a cinematic orgasm.

I cant wait, loved the other movies and its looking pretty epic in trailers already.

I've been on the fence about this one. It seems like there will be a lot more imminent danger rather than constant danger like there was in the trilogy. I've given it a lot of thought and concluded that I could, in fact, fap to this movie.
