About This Game:

Experience the ultimate open-world action/adventure as The Saboteur. Fight, climb, and race your way through a uniquely stylized version of Nazi-occupied France, and hunt down your sworn enemies who have taken everything from you. Enter the seedy underground world of a saboteur living in 1940s Paris, where the women are sexy, the missions are epic, and the revenge is satisfying.
Play as Sean Devlin, a street-tough Irish racing mechanic seeking personal redemption in the first open-world action game set in Nazi-occupied Europe. Now, it's time for payback -- with the help of the French Resistance, British intelligence, an arsenal of weaponry, and your own street smarts and brawn, you must exact revenge on those who aimed to destroy your life. Motivated by retribution and armed with tactics of sabotage, blow up zeppelins, derail trains, implode bridges, destroy armored tanks, and level enemy facilities in the name of vengeance.

SDCC Update:

July 23, 2009 - The Saboteur is Pandemic's stylish World War II action game. Set in an open world a la Mercenaries, The Saboteur pits you against the Nazis in occupied Paris. This isn't the first preview we've done of The Saboteur. There's not a ton more to say that hasn't already been said. However, I did see a new mission, which I can talk about briefly.

The new mission has you infiltrating a mausoleum guarded by Nazis. You need to steal a mysterious chest for reasons that aren't quite clear. As with just about every mission, there is both a stealth and an action option. If cautious, you can sneak into the mausoleum, steal a uniform and walk about undetected. Of course, it's more fun to shoot Nazis.

After fighting to the chest, our hero, Shaun Devlin, opens it. What's inside remains a mystery. Our only clue is the beautiful gold glow emanating from the box. I guess the Pandemic crew are big fans of Pulp Fiction. With mystery box loaded onto a stolen Nazi truck, you must bust your way out of Nazi-occupied territory.

Your truck has a health gauge, but it seemed to take little damage despite all the gunfire coming it's way. If the final version plays like the demo, this getaway shouldn't be frustrating at all.

Halfway through your escape, the Nazis pin you down, introducing a new element to gameplay. There are do-or-die suppression points in some areas, where your only hope is to hold off the Nazi onslaught. You won't do this alone. There are at least a half-dozen resistance fighters at your side, aiding as you take cover in the middle of the street and destroy all incoming enemies. Once you've filled the Nazi death count meter sufficiently, the assault ends and the area comes under the control of the resistance.

The remainder of the mission is a casual drive to home base.

While there's not a lot of new info to pass on, I will say that this demo looks much cleaner than the one played at E3. There seemed to be far fewer bugs and the game ran beautifully. Since The Saboteur isn't coming until December, there is plenty of time for even more refinement. From what I've seen, this game is looking capable of putting the kibosh on Nazis once and for all.

Looks and sounds promising, the only thing that could ruin it is the studio ****ing up the controls or some other game mechanic

Re: The Saboteur

Playing as a member of the French resistance would definitely be a new and interesting take on the WWII genre.
