Hey, talking about ''man's best friend' is a whole other level. While in my experience I have enjoyed cats more than dogs, I think in general, man's best friend is more along the lines of a firearm. Or a lasershooting dinosaur, but they're not going to be around for a while. (I do have lasershooting sharks, though)
 
There are cats out there that show love for their humans, but not all of them do. I've encountered many cats that just ignored, ran away from, or showed aggression toward humans. However, I've never met a dog that did not seek interaction with humans.

Here's another little tidbit: When a person is interacting and bonding with a dog, their brain releases the same hormones (hormones? maybe neurotransmitters? I'm not sure, something in the brain) as a mother's brain releases when she is bonding with her newborn child.

Also, there's a reason Fable gives us a dog instead of a cat.
 
Steve's dog made me seriously dislike dogs, which is a shame because I used to like them. I like cats because you don't have to do a damn thing for them aside from provide the odd meal now and then. But my heart will always lie with reptiles - I'm a total lizard and snake fan.

As for birds? I hates them, I do. Stupid winged cretins (except birds of prey and robins)...and rabbits and guinea pigs. Which is why I'm going to ask my dad for some clothes from Russia for the winter because I know they'll be lined with lovely warm rabbit fur and that'll stick two fingers up to the oversexed vermin.
 
Actually, man's best friend hangs out between his legs, with his two friends. Though I think he may be responsible for more bad crap than firearms ever could.
 
Well, there's scientific proof that humans are hardwired to believe God.
 
Humans are only hardwired to be curious and desire an explanation for the world around them. Sometimes this happens to come in the form of a god.

No, really. I read this scientific article on Reaver's-- I mean, Reader's Digest. The sort of elated, holy feeling one feels when deep in meditation or prayer is actually caused by the release of a kind of 'calming' hormone that targets the area of the brain used to identify reality from fantasy. That hormone causes the feeling that God is with you but actually it just tries to erase the line between reality and fantasy. Too much of that hormone causes insanity, though.
Anyway, I think it's just all rubbish because I am not an atheist.
 
I really doubt there's some kind of hormone that makes you feel like god is with you. It's entirely possible that such a thing can give you some sort of general spiritual feeling though, and that a lot of people just interpret that as god being with them.
