As I'm typing this it is currently 4:26am and I've not slept yet. My 2 cats are running around chasing each other, scratching at things, and meowing all night. They do this just about every single night and I love them to death, but I'm just about to throw them out the window.

Just several days ago one of them chewed up the wires to my modem & router (resulting in my crappy connection). Scratching at the wall, opening the curtains at night, tearing up the carpet, relieving themselves outside the litter box, running over me in bed, etc.. the madness is unending. I only gain temporary tranquility when they are eating and letting their food digest, that's it.

For those who have pets: Do your pets cause any nonsense for you?

If you have any advice or tips to share for others, feel free. Just don't tell me to get a dog, cause that's not gonna happen.

As you know I have 6 pets in my household, 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 rabbits and yeah they can drive me insane at times. The only one exempt from this is the rabbit outside who keeps himself to himself and makes no noise and is rather friendly. We have a rabbit in the lounge as one summer she started to get some bowel issues and it was sticking to her fur and you have to be careful of 'flystrike' where flies lay eggs in it on their fur and maggots form. Since then she has been indoors and shes quite a hand full sometimes. She doesnt like loud noises so if fireworks go off, wind is to loud, your up late watching TV etc she will stamp her feet and its rather loud often wakes us up in the night. Bonfire night with lots of fireworks going off caused her to go a little mental and she broke out of her cage and when we got back home she had chewed through my Xbox power cable, my Kinect cable and my TV cables. Also a pain when she kicks sawdust around over the carpet, we would put her back outside but she wasnt having any quality of life out there but the other rabbit likes his quiet.

Then theres the cats who get fur everywhere on sofas, carpet, tables, window ledges and cant leave food anywhere or they steal it. Due to lack of space in my kitchen our refrigerator is in the conservatory so if im making a sandwich I have to shut all the doors and check for cats before getting anything from the fridge. They sometimes play fight at night and meow to be let out in the early hours and if you dont pay attention they scratch at the door and pull at the carpet near the bedroom door. I get up for work around 5am and being woken up before that is a right pain in the ass because you rarely get back to sleep. If the dogs hear me get up to let the cats out they usually start too.

Then there is the dogs, one of which is a rather large brute of a dog though hes only 1 year old and we had only had him a couple of days when he chewed my laptop power cable. Hes mostly well behaved but when he wants something he constantly whines and goes to sit by the door, then you get up to let him out and he backs off with tail between legs and suddenly doesnt want to any more. He play fights with the other dog all the time and their growls and barks get irritating fast and it goes on for some time. Hes currently whining to go outside and climbing on back of the sofa because I wont let him outside because our fence has been blown down in the night.

Bottom line is I feel your pain, with our cats however I just throw them outside if they annoy me.

Well i would say get a Dog, but to be honest, mines just as bad as your cat.

Went downstairs this morning and went to go to the shop, so i put my coat on and begin to walk out of the room. My dog runs at me and bites my coat and pulls me back. So basicly he dosent want me to leave the house, he does this every bloody time someone leaves. Another bad thing is he barks at anything, literally, i hardly ever go downstairs because if anyone walks past our house you wont shut the dog up for 10 minutes. There was that time where i was using Xbox and he knocked it over by sniffing it, safe to say my Halo 3 disc broke. I was peeved.

Short Version: Dogs are just as bad.

Yes my Lhasa Apso constantly ****es on everything he can to mark his territory. That and he's got too needy recently and barks whenever you leave him alone (which he never used to do.)

I really like rabbits and have wanted one at one point, but those are the main reasons I don't have any rabbits in my house and probably never will. My older sister suffered from similar issues (especially the foot thumping), plus I don't know how my cats and the rabbit will react to one another.

I've battled a good bit of their loose fur with brushing them often, but since they're usually not in the mood for it I have to get them at the right time. Both of mine play wrestling every single day, but at some point during the fun they break out into a fight and that's when I have to step in and risk my own hands to end the conflict.

I've tried the method of separating them into different rooms of the house, but it's to no avail. They scratch at the doors, moew at them, ram into them, and as of last year have figured out how to open the doors successfully like some reincarnation of velociraptors. Leaving them in those tight carriers/cages at night for me, just doesn't feel fair to them, so I've refrained from doing it.

So, I've been out of ideas really.

Wish I could do the same with mine, but this neighborhood just isn't safe enough and they're too curious for their own good. Too afraid they'll get abused, taken in, or ran over like I've seen happen to other cats that used to be in this neighborhood.

Aye.

They've knocked my Xbox over several times, especially when they try to mark it up with their scent glands. Thankfully, it was turned off or didn't have a game playing all those times.

Glad I don't have that issue, both of my cats are neutered so they've never attempted to mark their territory in that fashion.

Speaking of cats, we just got a kitten the day before yesterday. Ollie he's called, really feisty too. Bailey the Lhasa Apso was being a cocky s*** barking at him so Ollie hissed like a demon and clawed him across the nose, never seen that dog run so fast.

Two words: Jack Russell

Two more words: Put down.

Happiest day of my freakin' life.

I have two cats. Two black cats. One old, one young.

Daisy - the old one - is sadly, very old. Around 17 years old, and at the moment she's ill. She's not annoying, she's in fact a very well behaved, laid back cat, always has been. She's just a lot to care of at the moment. Had to give her a bath today because well... she had an accident. Aside from the recent hassle, she's a good kitty, and I love her to bits.

Then there's the young one... Oscar... We got him as a kitten back in June or July and Oh.My.God. is he annoying. He's cute, I'll give him that. But stupid, very stupid. Hyper all the time. Just today I bought some flowers for the first time in weeks, Oscar spots them, "OM NOM NOM" - no more flowers. He grips onto my feet as I walk, gnawing on them; he scratches the furniture and meows and meows when you close a door, so you can let him in. Then he's like "LOL I didn't really want in *walks away* :troll:" In the morning he jumps onto my bed and lies there right on my face. So I wake up with this ASS on my face. Then there's the litter tray, he's a slob. He scatters the litter EVERYWHERE. He annoys Daisy too, he jumps on her and steals her food. But he also cleans her, which is ridiculously adorable. I keep telling him: "She's too old for you, Oscar and she doesn't have a womb - it'll never work." Don't get me wrong, I love the little bugger, but sometimes I want to perform a DIY castration on him.

I had a goldfish once, it died. Apparently I fed it to death it quite literally suffocated in fish food.

Our fence has blown down in the night and shattered, 1 of the dogs has been driving me mad whining to go out all day and I have to keep putting his lead (leash) on and walking around the garden with him every single time. Only way I can stop him trying to do a runner out of the back garden and out the neighbours garden into the road. The other dog isnt as curious and rarely ventures up the top of the garden unless its raining to hide under the trees so dont have to worry about her as much.

Main issue now is its dark and going to be like a doggy minefield out there at this time of night...

Wow those are some scary pet stories. My dog lives with my grandmother because I dont have a proper fence here at my house. He's very laid back, he sleeps all day, only time he's really hyper is when he's outside, playing with his chew toys, or when im messing with him :P

The only inconvenience I know of is that he's afraid of loud noise, and he has to be let out at 6 am.

My cat doesn't do anything to extreme, besides Drinking out of our cups of water because hers apparently isn't good enough. Scratching on our bedroom door to come in, go out, come in, got out, come in go out, CONSTANTLY. And she likes to sit on whatever surface she feels like sometimes knocking things over.

My dog is an asshole.

Seriously.

But then again he's only seven months old.

BUT OH MY GOD HE SHEDS EVERYWHERE! D:

We have two dogs, and one of them is perfectly fine. The other one, Harry, is a complete nightmare. He's 1 year old, and he's FRIGGEN HUGE. He doesn't know his own strength, is dumb as a post, and is constantly chewing on stuff (although this is getting better).

He's the most lovable thing in the world though, I just wish he was good around other dogs. Then I could walk him and he would calm down at home, etc. Everything would get better.

If you weren't talking about dogs, I'd swear you just described my middle child...

My dog's nearly perfect. The only time she's ever chewed things, dug holes in the back yard, etc. was when she was a puppy. Now she just sleeps, eats, plays, acts cute, hang out with us, and looks for a lap to rest her head on every night. I couldn't ask for anything more.

Just don't tell me to get a dog, cause that's not gonna happen.

What's wrong with dogs?

And that, children, is why it's always best to keep your Xbox in a horizontal position.
