That seems like a childish "I know you are" response. It's probably more effective to say "Yeah, I am. What about it?" or something.

If someone calls you gay then they most likely mean it as an insult, it's one of the only political correctness issues that I agree should be stopped but it is just a sad fact of life.

Is gay still slang for male homosexuality, or is it a real word? If it's a bona fide word, then it should be stopped, but otherwise, it's just another slang word that can have different meanings depending on the context.
