Tony Hawk: Ride Unveiled.. With a Twist..

Written Friday, May 15, 2009 by Jason Debelyak

The new Tony Hawk game, Tony Hawk: Ride, has just been unveiled thanks to our friends over at Gametrailers.com. The new Tony Hawk game will bring you into the skateboarding world like no other game has done before. Activision has been focusing on a way to bring gamers into the world of skateboarding like they haven't experienced before and have finally done so by adding an actual skateboard peripheral into the mix. That's right, the next Tony Hawk game will actually be sold with a skateboard add-on, which will have the player jump into the skateboarding world like never before. The trailer that exposes this brand new peripheral doesn't really explain much, but you'll get a glimpse of what it will look like, as well as an idea as to how it will function. Check it our for yourself..

In other words the same thing the Wii is already doing with the balance board? Complex tricks will be impossible and it will lessen the trick list and over complicate controls for grinding and such. Very sceptical about how well that will all work.

Yeah, but they might have some sort of genius idea. Of course you could just play the game with the traditional pad.

Tony Hawks went stale long ago and they are just trying something new to entice fans in again. However fans want the skate sim style that Tony Hawks (original was) which Skate now has the crown for. Not the over the top million combo trick circus trick game that Tony Hawks has become. I also doubt most adult gamers will want to be hopping around on some board. When using the gamepad you will likely just be playing a Tony Hawk game like the last few all over again with a couple of new features. People just want a realistic skating game back, which is why so many people jumped to Skate as its now the skaters choice too. Skate takes a million times more skill to play than any Tony Hawk game ever has.

I agree with Drakan, tony hawk games were fun at first, they got a little better. Then fell from glory. Now they are just trying too hard. I mean copying off nintendo? Plus, there is no way that will even but fun, 'cause all it will be is movement. I gaurantee it will not allow you to actually do the tricks. It will be all just motions.

I can smell fail.

Sounds pretty interesting but it's probably not going to be my cup of tea. I understand that Skate 2 is considered the most realistic skate boarding simulation at the moment and it comes as no surprise that the Tony Hawk's needs something to get one over their competitors, but I really, really don't fancy the idea of having a skateboarding controller lounging around my living room when I'm not playing TH. That's just me though.

Tony Hawk has been milked too long. It needs to die. Now.
