Please, explain to me what the point of twitter is? And myspace and facebook, and hi5? I have MSN so I just keep track with all my friends there, what is the point of all these websites, when you really only need ONE to keep track of people? Especially twitter! It reminds me of the commercial where the dad is sitting out on the deck typing a update saying "I'm on my porch".

I know what they are. I've used them, I just don't understand the point of all of them, when people really only need one site.

^Competition, Myspace was originaly invented as a site for underground bands to get advertisement, then it added social networking, then it became what it is today, Facebook became invented and was a more streamlined version of Myspace, Twitter to my understanding is a more blog-like facebook, hi5 is idk... Mainly it is just someone wants to make money off of their computer skills and makes a social site that alot of people will visti and throws ads on there to make money... I use Facebook and occasionalyl Myspace...

Well they have them so people can Keep in touch with one another, share photos.. etc.

Why they have so many, Because someone makes one, Then another guy goes "Hey! Thats a good idea, im going to do that too!" then it carrys on like that..

Lol, but who cares, I made my myspace when I wasn't old enough to have one, according to the terms and policies.

I have a myspace, I use it to post silly statements and any nonsence I can think of as my status. I sometimes go months without updating it because I don't care. As some people use Myspace to "reach out", I use it to push those people away. If you manage to find mine, they general idea of is to say GTFO. *checks Myspace* Yup, the last time I updated it was July 29th.

I have a Facebook account to. I also use it to post nonsence as my status, but I also use it to play free mediocre games when I have nothing better to do. I'm friends on there with a bunch of people, 99% of wich I don't care about. Their just there to be my allies in all my mediocre games. Facebook really makes me with I had the skills to make a decent game, since some people actually pay for extra content on all those mediocre games. I have no problem exploiting other peoples stupidity, poor taste, lack of self control and bad spending habits.

Twitter doesnt seem to offer any of the things I'm looking for when waisting time. Of all the people I know, I really couldn't care less about what any of them are doing right now without me. Especially if their seated in front of their computer or playing with their phone and are willing to tell the whole world what their doing.

Twitter is good for one thing only - marketing. Other than that, it's a pile of crap and I don't use it meself. Handy for those sites who want to say something like "news update here - related link etc" or companies who want to have a fish hook for potential/current clients. I personally have no interest in who is having a crap right this second or made a sandwich last night. And I have no desire to read the delusional rantings of "celebrities" who have found other social networking sites a little too demanding on their grasp of basic vocabulary and require somewhere with a character limit to make them look smarter :rolleyes:

there is more than one because one of those sites, once popular, can be sold to a major company for millions of dollars. Thats the main reason more and more keep popping up :)

As said before, Twitter is only good for marketing. Certain companies use Twitter to keep track on what consumers want from the companies, and what the employees are saying about the higher-ups behind their backs.

On The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brian a week ago, this is what he said.

(emotionless face) "A hacker shut down Twitter this morning." (audience cheers)
(Conan smiles) "The good news is, a hacker shut down Twitter this morning!"

Gave me a chuckle. But yeah, other than for business purposes, Twitter is mainly used by celebrities, for people who want to know what Miley Cyrus had for lunch.

I use Facebook to keep in touch with friends that i dont see much of anymore and some family members. They dont use MSN and i rarely have time to sit on MSN for any length of time these days so its a good way to keep up to date with them. I dont 'get' Twitter though, its essentially the status update part of Facebook (annoys me when people change it every 10mins) along with the ability to upload photos. Twitter would bore the hell out of me as it seems quite pointless.

I only use Twitter to keep track of InfinityWard and 402 for Modernwarfare 2 updates, I don't follow anyone else. But for some reason 13 people are following me?

Yeahh, I forget what my Twitter link is though. I'll post it tomorrow in case any of you guys want to follow, why you would want to I don't know xD but I'll post it anyways.
