Video Capturing

Can someone tell me how to and provide links of how to capture videos on the internet? I want to take a portion of a video and upload it to youtube complete with sound and the same quality picture but I'm not sure how to.

+Rep for help.

Re: Video Capturing

maybe you can use fraps?

Re: Video Capturing

Thanks Man, but the sound is very badly out of sync when I use FRAPS. And it only records about 5 seconds of the video.

Re: Video Capturing

Try HyperCam2, Thats what I use, the only downside is you either need to capture the audio with a mic or upload it seperately.

Re: Video Capturing

Camtasia is awesome. However, it isn't free, but there is a free 30-day trial that you can use, and once it runs out, you can download the trial again. It's great quality, records sound as well as video, lets you edit the video, pretty much everything.

Re: Video Capturing

I have a registered HyperCam2. Not really all that good. I've heard lots of good from Camtasia though.

Re: Video Capturing

I'll give it a try later, thanks

Re: Video Capturing

Okay, I've downloaded Camtasia but there is one problem, it records my microphone instead of the laptop audio. I can't find a setting to change this so could anyone help for extra brownie points?

Re: Video Capturing

Unplug your mic.

Re: Video Capturing

It is built-in

Double click the speaker in the lower right corner of the start bar. Uncheck the mic.

Now there is no sound. Hmm, how do I get it to record laptop audio?

Re: Video Capturing

Sorry if this is derailing the thread, but I have a simmilar problem. I want to do the exact same thing as Shirosaki, but get the video off a DVD. Can someone tell me how? Will Camtasia work?

I think it will but you'll need to play it out loud and record the audio with a mic. Only thing about that is you'll need the rest of your house to be quiet.
