Weird Inventions

I made a crossbow today. I don't have a working camera ATM so I have no pictures but I'll try to get some in the next few days. I took my dad's old rifle butt, some base board, and some yarn, put them together and got a partially working crossbow. So far I've shot pens, sticks, bottles and a reshaped wire hanger. It's pretty cool. A few days ago, I took apart a calculator. I took out the small battery and hooked it up to a AA one. Anyone else got some inventions?

Two other guys and I made an alligator out of a three hole puncher, a stapler, and a few pens when we were bored yesterday in history class. w00t for us. :noexpression:

Re: Weird Inventions

When I was in public school, a friend an I made a little cannon that shot paper balls... Now the best part was that you put it on your shoe, and a thread tied around the gumband and you could shoot it relatively hands free. I feel compelled to mention the paper balls never went more than about 5 feet and ended up flying sideways. Ahhhh those were the days.

I once fashioned an improvised grenade launcher. I was stupid in designing it though, I didn't account for a lot of things and other things I just didn't know enough about. What ended up happening was the projectile expanded upon being fired and it got stuck in the barrel, at which point I tossed the defunct contraption and shielded my eyes just before I was consumed by a thick, black cloud of smoke when the damned thing blew up.

I've also tinkered with a few other, less dangerous things. I made two radios, first from one of those "build your own radio" sets, then from scratch once I learned how it all went together. And I dabbled with this and that here and there. When my last computer starting falling apart, I would improvise pieces out of toothpicks, paperclips, rubber bands, glue, string, staples, sticks of gum, popsicle sticks, whatever I had laying around to hold it together for a little while longer. But I haven't had any actual inventions.

I too have built a radio :3 I love the feeling of picking up the first static ridden song from an AM oldies station.
