Re: What does everybody look like?
I'm weird, so: jumper=sweater=sweatshirt... that "jersey" seems to just be a type of sweater. And that is one word that changes alot. Just in Maryland we can't decide sweater or sweatshirt.
The only "jersey" here is only a sport/athletic jersey, like the second part of Wikipedia said. Baseball jersey, football jersey, soccer jersey... used interchangeably with "uniform," but only for sports. If you work at McDonalds, you don't wear a McDonalds jersey, if your school hs a mandatory uniform policy you don't wear a school jersey.
A jumper here is a dress too, I think, same as Canada, but I'm not the person to ask. Oh, and actually what you're calling a jumper is called a jacket or a hoodie half the time here, too, not just a sweatshirt.
I don't feel like stealing your clothes, though. If I'm not wearing extremely sarcastic shirts, then I'm emblazoned with the names of my sports teams. O's, Nats, Skins, and occasionally the Caps or the Wizards. Extremely rarely, United*... irregardless of the fact that I'm really not that dedicated of a fan. Oh, and I also wear Maryland Terrapins gear. University of Maryland, in addition to the college I want to go to, is a team I sort-of root for.
And, of course, I always wear a hat. A baseball hat, to be precise. Used to be the O's or from the team I played for, but my little sister gave me a Saint Jude Children's Research hospital hat, so I've been wearing that.
