Ok, we still have Hobbes, and in Fable I/TLC it is stated that hobbes are children of whom have had their souls devoured by Dark Nymphs, yet we see no Nymphs at all in Fable II or III....

Now, one of my very favorite monsters in the Fable series were the Nymphs. I mean who didn't get that sense of dread when they heard the laughter of a Wood Nymph as you entered the forest especially at the earllier stages of the game.... I loved to leave just to come back and spawn these monsters because they were a monster that made you use all of your abilities not to mention the adorable sound they made when you finished them.

In Fable III we also saw the or rather didn't see the end of another beloved monster: The Troll. I loved fighting Trolls in both Fable I/TLC and II it actually took more than 10 seconds to kill it. I took it like a consolation in Fable II to the fact that there were no big boss battles but they are absent in Fable III my word to this is....FAIL!

And Finally one of the biggest dissapointment for me was the loss of Big Boss Battles! I miss having to think about what my opponent was doing, dodge rolling at just the right moment or it might be a fatal blow for my character or perhaps my opponent was invincible during certain attacks so I had to wait for a tiny window of time to get maybe just 1 or 2 attacks in, then roll away or risk being blown away by it's retaliation to my attacks

I mean who can beat that kind of sense of peral the feeling that 'I may be a hero but that does not mean there aren't bigger badder things out there waiting for me.'

I think that in trying to make the gamer feel "powerful" Lionhead lost sight of what makes a game fun: THE CHALLENGE

i too would love to see more standard bosses. like in f1 there was the scorpion and the kraken who would attack at intervals, or stages where the scorpion would summon mini scorpions for you to take out first.
it is a little rpg though, which lionhead was trying to avoid.

I agree. Trolls were fun to fight; though not too challenging compared to other games, at least you had to use SOME strategy. When I realized I was about to fight The Crawler, I was excited and geared up for a real fight, a la taking Jack of Blades down. But alas, The Crawler was as easy if not easier to fight than the Lieutenant Simmons-type hollow men.

SPOILER:

I at least expected a two-tier fight with him, fighting possessed Walter and then fighting The Crawler in all his gooey black glory.

As for the Nymphs, I never got as in to the first Fable as the other two since I played it after II and on a laptop(which I didn't like), but the Nymphs scared the bejesus out of me. Their happy little laughter as they tried to kill you...*shivers*

I miss Fable 1 combat. I didnt really like the F2 trolls to be honest, because there always seemed to be one spot that would prove nearly impossible to hit. They werent really difficult, I could avoid all the hits, but it was just hitting the last spot.

Fable one had great enemies. Kraken, Nymphs, the Scorpian. Even the basic enemies where a bit more challange until you were superpowered. Jack was a great boss fight too, especially in Dragon form. The first was pretty tricky too unless you used certain tricks.

See that was my favorite part it was dark it's something so cute and innocent but you know the thing has fangs to bare

Yeah, PM is always going on about how he wants to take Fable into a different direction. The only problem is I don't think he's sure in which direction he wants to go.

All the ennemies were disappointing in Fable 3, I thought. Why are there so many balverines and hollow men? The white balverine in Fable TLC was a huge deal, but you're likely to encounter 5 or 6 of them in Mistpeak Valley alone in one trip.

It seems like they are taking out a good enemy out of the game every time??? Fable 1 had it all Beetles, Hobbes, Bandits, Hollowmen, Balvarines, Nymphs, Trolls...... Fable 2 they took out the Nymphs (and awsome/big bosses), now Fable 3 takes out Nymphs, and TROLLS!!!, and Beetles which i can live with (kinda silly to change Bandits with mercenarys? but not a big deal cause they are the same). What will they take next??? Hobbes? Balvarines? Hollowmen (which were overused in Fable 3), what are they playing at?

Yeah I mean I understand that the monsters are dying out but if we keep hobbes it should be a given that there are nymphs out there

well, fable 2 also had a huge amount of spire guards and commandants. and also each monster usually only resided in a specific location, such as balverines in the westvale road. or bandits in the bandit coast. or spire guards in brightwood.
and it made more sense since the player would usually go down the pathways between towns more often, while in f3 we just fast travel. and most enemies are found in 2 or 3 locations.

yep, one huge enemy is better than one tiny annoying pixie.

i wouldnt mind there not being bosses if there was abit more variety through the game though.

The "annoying pixies" as you say, Balverines and Hobbes are tied to the most extreme FABLES of Britan's history and for me were of major importance to the series because for people like me who are drawn to mythology it made the first game that much more fun to be pulled into

on another note I like my games to make sense and in Lionheads laziness they forego this.... they give us a smaller variety of monsters to fight becase they are too lazy and money-hungry to take a little extra time to touch up the models for the older monsters and kill the mythology aspect to put more money in their pocket faster

I do agree with the second statement though

i think you mean trolls not golems, and if you have the trollsblight hammer you know why they are gone ;)

I do have trollsblight but I think it's a stupid excuse to keep from having to do more work

i dont understand how you kill them trolls with a hammer though, you'd need a gun or magic to hit its nerves before you could kill them. so whats the use of a hammer?

The old kingdom trolls could be killed with melee weapons. Then again, maybe the old kingdom Heroes were just more awesome than their descendants.

most normal people don't survive troll attacks so the hammer was probably specialty made to keep the troll from ever even rising from the earth in the first place

Everytime i heard that Nymph laugh i would be like: OH ****!

I do wish they brought more monsters from the previous games, instead they just got lazy and instead of adding new monsters to provide challenges they just added more of the same, being swarmed by 10 Balvarines isn't fun or exciting, I would rather face 1-2 really tough new creatures, then just be swarmed by the same crap all the time.

Everytime i heard that Nymph laugh i would be like: OH s***!

Yet another good reason I mean I know making NEW monsters is tough but the least they could do is take 46 hours and touch up a couple of old models I don't even care if it has the old animations

also Trolls could have been great like make gearbox style trolls with crazy moving parts and instead of throwing rocks throw gears
